Off to Croatia soon, Would be fantastic to get some basic phrases to help me out a little. and how common is it for people to speak English in Croatia? I have got till september to figure out a few words A lot has to do with what part of Croatia you are going too as to what the locals speak, but it's pretty safe to say you will find someone who either speaks English, Italian or German. In the Balkan region, Croatia is the most fluent in English. Many attribute this to the fact that many foreign movies on TV and at the movies are show in their native tongue with Croatian subtitles, and of course we get a healthy dose of Hollywood over here on a daily basis, both films, TV series and even documentaries (all Disney films when first released where for years all in English). They also have lessons in school. Along the coast (Istria especially) many can speak Italian, and then with the older generation you will find they know German. So, if you find yourself lost, desperate or in need to communicate then look for a youthful looking person and you should be able to be understood. Lastly, feel free to learn the language, although having been here for a while I often get about great with English.

Off to Croatia soon, Would be fantastic to get some basic phrases to help me out a little. and how common is it for people to speak English in Croatia? I have got till september to figure out a few words I feel like I just got shauned or fleeced as a sheep marta. Come on, just noticed that you tagged on your web site and there you guys claim to know all things Croatia and here you ask a stupid basic question on how common is it for people to speak English in Croatia and want to learn some basic Croatian (When you state you are Croatian). How can the company you are promoting claim to offer great trips to Croatia, have Croatian management or staff or owners and don’t know the answer to this simple question? Maybe you need to give your office a call, pay their fees and get some paid advice, and while at it you can book your holiday through them? Here's my web site (so I can make some money) that will give you great advice on Croatia: www.askmesillyquestions.hrSorry guys for the rant, just hate it when people take me for a ride!

I mean what a stupid way to drum up business. Recession must be really bad! And this is coming from me the nice one on this board!!! Duuuuuuuuurgh!

I mean what a stupid way to drum up business. Recession must be really bad! And this is coming from me the nice one on this board!!! Duuuuuuuuurgh! Since there is like only 10 max posters, a few more that comment once a year and the rest of us trying to drum up business, blast Croatia, discuss major issues such as the price of beer or what percentage of beer is in a can, and then Croatians asking us foreigners how to speak their own language. I wonder what’s next? Anna, what are the numbers? Be interesting to see how many people actually visit the site, as I sure wouldn't want it to be just me, ray51, splitcroatia, madgolfer, polako, Carol singing, Anna's father or Medo mandy or mambo. Think I forgot Martin, Karl and some others. Do the sponsors of this site get their money's worth? So far I haven't purchased anything.
