Pat, What currency do you use in your country? If it is one of the ones you stated then take that as there is no point in changing your money then having to change it again in Croatia,You won't have a problem changing money there. Where to Change once you are in Croatia?Shop around as there are different rates depending on the vendor you choose.

Plastic works well if your card has Visa,Maestro or Cirrus on it. ATMs usually recognise it as foreign and give you a language option. If you prefer to carry cash out with you, rates vary a lot. Private change offices usually don't charge commission although most banks seem to.

Hi. the first year we went, we took sterling travellers cheques, which tend to be cashed with around a commission fee of 5%. for the last couple of years, we have just used our UK switch card - provided you have the CIRRUS logo on it, there are many atms which you can use - just withdraws cash as normal from your current account. fee normally around 1.5%, depending on your current account provider. I find this much safer than carrying large amounts of cash/travellers cheques.
