Can anyone help with a query about 'eta¾' (the surveying of a property) The property is 3 years old and was an attic conversion to a bungalow of 100m2. The whole building is owned by one person and they did not declare the conversion as a separate living space when it was built. It they need to do this now does anyone have an idea of the costs? And what is this called?

etazigranje (or something like that).
You get a surveyor to draw the layout and submit to the planning department. Cost of the surveyor depends upon square metrage. However, I think it was not astoundingly expensive when we looked into it.
The end result is you get two separate legal entities, each with their own katastar number (rather than just one)

Also depends on whether it can be legalized depending on the planning laws for the area. If the house has already more than one unit, or the house has not been built to legal specification, eg. depending on land size a house may only be allowed to have 2 units, or 4, or 6 ... it all depends ... an architect in your area will be able to tell you. If the house already has the max no of units, then you need to keep up to date with the new legalization law of illegal buildings.
