In Canada if you own property or a house, you have an anuual property tax to pay on the assessment of your property.
I understand there is a city/area surtax on Croatians based on their income and where they live.
Apart from selling or buying a property in Croatia and paying RETT, once you own it, is there an annual tax to pay?
Also if I am to understand correctly, the Croatian government has no system of propery assessement outside of "market value"?
And "market value" is determined by "real estate agencies" and banks? So the government relies on real estate agency assessments?
Its difficult for me to wrap my head around the fact that property is assessed on its location and not the condition its in. So a house that is falling apart but on the first row to the sea can command a price comparable to a house completely renovated on the first row to the sea?
Am I understanding all this correctly or not?
