Over 300 illegal buildings to be demolished on Kornati
In the next two to three weeks the Croatian Ministry of Construction and Physical Planning will issue 350 solutions for the demolition of about 300 illegally constructed buildings. That is the result of control inspection monitoring, which was conducted within the Kornati National Park in April and May. The inspection used photographic air footage taken in 2006, 2001 and 2012 to determine which of the around 808 objects were built illegaly.
Newly built buildings, auxiliary facilities that have been built on the old foundations, piers, grills and other facilities that were caught on the ground are now in line for demolition. Among the illegal objects is Marina Hramina 2, the largest object in the National Park Kornati. Although at the time of construction, it had all the necessary permits, the investor has significantly exceeded the dimensions.
"The problem with Kornati is that it is isolated area and difficult to build. Of all the objects that were caught, half of them are more or less illegal. Although, if we compare it with the overall situation in Croatia, we get a national average of illegal construction without documents,’’said Domomir Pavelic, Head of Inspection Surveillance Department.
