Slightly odd question and thankfully its purely for research purposes but could anybody give me an idea of the sort of charges that are made in Croatia for the cremation of a coffin ?

I don't know the charges but I can tell you they will not release the ashes to you unless you have an official document stating to have permission to dispose of them as prescribed by law. You can't leave them on the mantlepiece in an urn, you can't throw them in the sea, scatter them on a favourite football pitch... nothing. The government has decided what you can and cannot do with cremation ashes and you won't get hold of them until you've paid your fees and got your documents. Nanny state?
