Can anyone tell me please what is the policy of Croatian Banks when trying to close an account from England. This is a Company account and I do not have Netbanking. I am having trouble getting about £800 transferred to England, where I live. The bank are not answering questions. I sold my apartment in January 2012 and had no trouble receiving the bulk of the money then. My accountant was instructed to liquidate my d.o.o., but she let me down did nothing in a year, despite telling me she'd applied for initial papers. They never materialsed, so after a year of lies and evasion, we parted company. Another acccountant I contacted recently said it is a new law that a Company will be closed automatically if left dormant, which is fine by me, but how can I get my money out, short of going there? And even then, could I? My bank is also being very evasive and is now refusing to answer my polite questions. Help!!! This is driving me mad!

For £120 you can fly Brit or Croatian airlines and get over to Zagreb and close the account. I say this as if you don't then you will loose the money when the account is closed. Don't you have a bank card? You should be able to use that? Best to hop over and close it so you don't get charged for keeping the account open. I do find it odd that no one wants to help you on the phone. Any time I have called them I've spoken in English and had no problems.
