Can anyone help??
My neighbour has shown me a booklet which shows all details of his house including some photographs which he tells me every householder has to have by 3rd June 2013.
It is titled "Legalizacija Obitelitske Kuce" and I understand has to be produced by a qualified Surveyor at a cost of over 600 Euros.
Can anyone confirm whether this is so and whether there are any exceptions.

It sounds like the sort of document a surveyor would produce to submit a completed house for a usage permit or to subdivide a property into two legal entities, but I don't know (only guessing). Is your neighbour's house likely to have all its paperwork in place already?

Hi Carol
No this is supposedly a new regulation which applies to all households. It seems to be another money-making scheme.
Another of our friends independantly confirmed that this was being introduced and must be available at the the house for inspection from 3rd June.
I have also asked my accountant whether she can throw any light on the subject so will let you know.

i am not in real estate any more (and life is so much simpler), but sounds to me that it is related to legalising illegal buildings, which is an ongoing process. The title translates as Legalisation of a Family House, so if your house is legal, with all building permits or built pre 68, would guess it does not concern you. But am not an expert

I am in real estate ... and agree with last comment of totalcroatia ... however I had had situation where on the title it reads that the house does not have a use permit ... so my client called me and asked if he needed to do anything ... I said do you have the building permit from the previous owner, he didn.t, so first thing we needed to do was go to the court house and submit a request for a certified copy of the building permit or document that was used to determine the house did not have a use permit, therefore supposedly had a building permit. Then we will know for sure whether the house was built to specification. If not he will have to call in a firm that does everything ... do not hire a surveyor alone ... look for a company that does it all ... has architects, surveyors, a whole team to give you a total assessment. Look for a larger company with a full staff, go to their office, check them out. A lot of these one man shops will disappear after the dust has settled and then when there is query from the building department on your submission ... what then? This happened to a lot of people on the island of Vir ... back in 2005 they had an opportunity to legalize their homes and all sorts of architects, surveyors etc came onto the island ... people handed over money, got some documentation architectural work done and then years later when their documentation was finally processed at the Zadar building center, and they had questions, then these people could not find these firms, or they would not take responsibility....so check out who you are doing business with.
