Good point Kes. What about, as a just in case decider. we predict the top 4 and the bottom 3. with 1 point for each correct We all have 2 weeks from now to make the predictions Sorry to appear negative, UTV, but this is also not a fair method, because (say) you could actually predict all top 4 sides, but not get one in the right position. So you score no points. I could predict only one of the top four sides - let's say Man City - and get it in the correct position let's say second place - and get ALL the other three wrong. Yet I win with one point. So not a good way, IMO. kesterj

A '6' and a '7' isn't any better than a '4' and a '9' as you are suggesting .... I am suggesting nothing of the sort. You have got me totally wrong here, because I am saying a 6 + 7 is exactly the same as a 4 + 9 in a "league" system - which is what we are "playing". " And deciding such a tie by the highest points scored isn't any more arbitrary (=unfair) than getting right the number of goals in the last matchday." Yes it is more arbitrary. "Both is based simply on guessing and it's the same with guessing the first 4 and the last 3 teams." But - the whole point of this competition is to be the best "predicter" - not "guesser" (though in practice there is not much difference, I agree - but that is not the point.) "You are simply adding one more round of guessing instead of using the data already available." No, not at all. I am adding another round of prediction - true - but that is because the data already available (after 38 games) has left 2 or more on equal number of points - so there is no differentiation. The 'data' as you call it is insufficient. To repeat, getting a score of 10 one week, and 0 the next, means you are no better as a "predicter" than someone who gets 5 + 5. Mathematically, you are both equal. That is my whole bone of contention with the highest scorers taking the trophy in event of a tie. This will, in all likelihood, be theoretical only and,at the end of the day, who cares - but since we (and UTV especially) goes to a lot of trouble for 38 rounds to get this right, then let's get it to an agreed "right" in the event of a tie. If I'm there at the top in a tie, I would not want to win the competition based on false reasoning. kesterj
