Traveling to Croatia and Slovenia this summer. I have a few questions. We are going to be flying into Venice and spending a few days there, then renting a car and driving to Croatia and 5 days in Slovenia and will return to Venice for our flight Home.
#1: Is there still a ferry from Rijeka to Dubrovnik? Does the ferry allows cars or is it strictly a passenger ferry?
what are the must see places in Croatia other than Dubrovnik, Markaska, Split, and Zadar?

It depends somewhat on what interests you. Makarska is a holiday resort, there's nothing much in the way of history or nature there. Split is a major city but, in my view, is not a special place in and of itself. For history, Pula has the most Roman built content and amphitheatre, the peninsular of Istria has good examples of everything you will find further south. For nature, Plitivtske Jezere or Krka national Park (not the island Krk) are quite spectacular as is Velebit mountain near Zadar. Dubrovnik is a classic destination but it is heaving in the season and a long way to drive. You can 'do' Dubrovnik in a single day. www.ruralpropertycroatia.com

There is no ferry from Rijeka to Dubrovnik, Split or Zadar. In Croatia, concentrate on Istria/Kvarner regions and visit Plitvice. How many days total have you got?
