Hello, I will be visiting Croatia for 2 weeks in October with a tour group from Canada. We will be staying in Cavtat and visiting different places daily. Just a few questions. What is the weather like in early October? Would it be better to change to local currency before leaving Canada or should I just bring a bank card? We have breakfast and dinner daily INCLUDED with our tour but could you give some idea local prices such as wine, small lunch etc. Also I always bring my grandchildren souvenirs from whatever country I'm visiting any suggestions? I think we are having a pretty comprehensive tour but what should not be missed? Thank you Judy in Toronto. Love your websites.

Temperatures are likely to be in the early 20's centigrade. There may be rain, when I was in Dubrovnik last year at the end of September, there were two large thunderstorms in 3 days, but when these cleared it was pleasant. I would guess that you are unlikely to get a decent exchange rate for Croatian Kuna in Canada. I would wait until arriving. All the major airports have cashpoints where you can withdraw local currency. Look out for Visa, Cirrus or Maestro symbols on your cards. Not all cards work in every machine, but most are fine. If you are staying in Cavtat, you will most likely spend time in Dubrovnik. Food and Drink there is geared towards tourists and the menus and prices reflect this. Expect to pay between 50-120Kn for a lunch dish. If you like seafood you will be well catered for! Otherwise there are grills/meats on offer. In Dubrovnik Old Town especially, the menus tend to be very similar. There's not much to choose between the many restaurants. For cheaper and slightly varied you need to find less tourist intensive places.
