Be careful on croatia private freeways, when you a pay a fee with higher bills,they will give you back Slovenian currency (Slovenian tolar),which is only about 1/20of Croatian Kuna.

We do not have private freeways in Croatia,all of them are run by the state. You must be mistaken. Maybe you were in Slovenia.

Think you people must have been in Slovenia. I have lived and worked in Croatia for 3 Years. Even worked on the new Croatian Motorway from Karlovac to Dubrovnik. No currency fiddles. Thank you ;D A Beautifull Country and People. (Ja sam Dalmantinski)

Someone saw you coming! No such thing as private freeways. There are toll booths but I've never heard of them giving tolars to swindle people.

He must have been in Slovenia and they didn't check him at the border. poor thing. But nevertheless be sure to check your money anywhere you go.
