thats all just talk . there is nooo way that such an economic catastrophe could occur in australia unless it happens in the rest of the worlds developed countries. and dont compare australia to the US either. ive heard from aussies who have visited the US ...that the US is a nightmare . that just going to the bank or buying a bus ticket in the US...you encounter the rudest , unfriendliest people. reminds me of croatia . maybe politicians have changed a little since ive moved to croatia. also there are rumors of politician orgies in croatia. dont know if its true but i have heard the rumors. as a matter of fact ive heard storys of sex happenings in hospitals ..(doctors and nurses) ...and famous singers whove arrived at emergency with sex injuries or overdosing....im not surprised by this but its funny how ive heard the storys from people whove seen this with their own eyes ...from people i know who work in hospitals who see everything ..there must be truth to them .i could expand on that but i wont . i would also like to add that there is definatley a deliberate shortage of housing in croatia. the result is ridiculously high realestate prices and people again ..like in the times of communism ..are being forced to buy pigeon holes in buildings that were built by the handfull of people in croatia who can get building permits. CORRUPTION: and australia does spend alot of money on public housing. that is great for some people . and believe me australias health care system is fantastic. im speaking from the experience of a close person . the main complaint in australia is by people who are seeking early invalid pensions and are claiming that they have a work injury or something...they have to be able to really prove that they are injured. and doctors are often on the side of the govt. but you cant blame the aussie govt either. australia apparently has a sot market economy. the type of economy that would suit a tranistional commy country like croatia. but croatia has gone all ultra capitalist run by commies who want more zeros at the end of their savings fund . and with regards to banks in australia...i regard them all ...especially the ones who now own croatias banks...as maggot infested scum. who rip off the poor by providing a "service" .how the hell can interest rates in croatia be higher than rates in western countries ? why is that? they come here to ripp off tranistional ex commy countires because they know the mentality of the people and the price that croats are willing to pay to have a nicer car then their neghbour has. and they take 50 kunas( my 50 kunas) off of my visa electon card like its nothing...but if i go into a bank and force 50 kunas out of the bank teller...i will end up in jail and a criminal record. just an example. i once had a bank teller in croatia stuff up his calculations and he gave me a hundred kunas more when i was withdrawing some money. and then when i was closing my bank account there ..he went through my savings book ..and he found out his mistake. and took me into the back office and told me to check the savings book my self and threw me a pen and paper. i should have given him a nice kick to the head. stupid bastard. i knew all along about his mistake. does he have a calculator? talk about saving his own arse. wheres the "customers alwasy right " approach here?? haha . not only have the bank scum edged into croatias 4.000.000 "strong" excommys . but the telecom monopoly holds higher prices here than in their home countires. even bosna mobile phone impulses are higher than in western countries. ive heard that the latest potential mobile operator in croatia was blocked by sanader himslef. why is that ? and dont forget match telecom ... they had false bank documents from italy ...in an attempt to become an operator. that is pretty funny when i first came to croatia...the checkout ladies at stores were comfortably seated ..practically in a sleeping position ....theyd throw you the change ..often missing your hand completetly. very rude behaviour.theydd never give you a plastic bag...youd have to buy a bag at the pazar. ...and they werent cheap either(plastic bag) . and these ladies were all wearing trench coats and atleast 50 years old. now we have friendlier , nice younger girls , who arent sleeping behind their bench. the service in croatias supermarkets has improved greatly in the last 10 years. but they still dont have the guy who packs bags at the checkouts for old people or people who cant do that themsleves . and why dont they put up those little poles with the nice red ropes in banks and at the MUP so that people can que in a line and so that idiots cant come and push in. the other night i was waiting in a line of about five people for some cevape. and some idiot takes a shortcut and jumps infront of me and orders. red hot steam was about to come out of my ears ...i asked him if he was attempting to push in infront of me...he laughed...and said sorry and let me order. but what about the other 4 guys that were behind me??? haha. some branches of PBZ bank have a nice number ticket system . it seems to work at stopping people from pushing in . i dont get whats with the MUP. after visitng the MUP several times...i get to thinking that the people behind the big glass protected bench ..actually like watching people have arguments and fights .and croatias cops ( many of them corrupt) ...have an easy job catching criminals in croatia. they have every croatian citizens photo and fingerprints at the MUP.sort of an invasion of personal freedom and privacy if you ask me. as is the apparently "helpfull" new "zemljisne knjige" on the internet for all the world to see. and also the "hrvatska gospodarska komora " have every single firm in croatia listed on the internet ...with the names of the owners ..the number of workers and its financial state amongst other things . and i think that this is a massive invasion of privacy. the service will be abused ...obviously by girl gold diggers investigating their future dates . haha. no..but it is clearly an invasion of privacy and it doesnt encourage investment at all. they should keep this information personal . and only available on request from the HGK ..after signing a form with what exactly someone wants to know about a firm . and then the enquiry should be reported to the actual owner of the firm. same goes with "zemljisne knjige" . the info should be easily available from the local opcina .without the need for purchasing stamps or getting into a fight with the bastards who work there . . instead theyve gona and placed personal info on the internet.

You make Croatia seem like hell, Valiant. Looking back over your posts you said that you moved to Croatia in 1997 because you liked the coastline. If your still going on like this 8 years later I think that you need to ask yourselves some serious questions. I mean obviously most people want to move to Australia, not from it. With Croats in London that I know they've either completely forgotten about life in Croatia and have no interest in it, and then completely embraced British life, or never forgotten Croatia and always really wanted to go back. Its those that never forget Croatia that have the problems in adjusting. May be you need to start acting like a Croat yourself. If you've got a problem with not queuing then you don't need to be a rocket scientist to realise that Croatia is definitely not for you.

Valient, it must be drugs or alcohol that is exacerbating the paranoia. The most difficult part is admitting that you have a problem. Please seek help now. Australia has a great health system. And with your typing skills I`m sure we can find you a job placement when you are better.

croatia has its problems . the only people that dont complain are the local splicani and other croats who were born here and keep all their "connections" selfishly to themsleves and are accustomed to living with corruption , jelousy , pride ,denial . i like living in croatia , i like the same things that tourists like about croatia when they visit . and i like complaining about everything because i encounter these problems, still, after all these years ...and then i get frustrated , daily. and i wonder how fantastic croatia could be if the system of living here was changed . and i am not the only person complaining here. emiz is also a critic , his criticism should be taken positively ..as advice. instead..people are bagging him and me. i was with someone from canada last night...and this person is about as twice as frustrated with croatian mentality than i am. croatias politicians are doing NOTHING. absolutely nothing but making more stupid laws to further complicate things here . wheres the enthusiasm? croatia is on its knees but at the same time has huuuuge potential . yet when i gave some positive sugestions a few posts ago ..about how croatia could be changed for the better...people react negatively. it does not take a "genius " to come up with suggestions. i am not priding my self or god forbid "soli pamet nekome" why? i would be soooo excited about csuch changes being made in croatia ..by our politicians. but nothing . and the people vote for kumrovec political graduates rather than vote for someone whos lived outside and new to the political scene. has anyone noticed what crap is produced in the media about anyone whos athreat to todays croatian politicians and their corrupt circle i see that tourists ahve finally started arriving...later than usual . but in high numbers atleast . im very happy abou tthat. there was a good report on tv yesterday about croatian fisherman and entrepneurs in adelaide , australia. about how successfull they are and how the australian government supports them and their familys . the croat boat builder wanted to invest in croatia but was turned down by these croats here in croatia and was told that his investment here was illegal. hahahahahahahahha. and croat fisherman in croatia are actually desperately in need of fishing boats!!! its a known fact . and these aussie fishing boats are absolutley beautiful . the rest of the program was focused on the differences between croatias and australias investment climaate and how croats in australia who are very rich and successfull havent exploded with pride and arrogance. and these rich croats in australia came to australia with absolutely nothing but their bare hands , enthusiasm and hope for a better life. and they made it. yet ...croats born outside ..come to croatia and every hurdle that can possibly be imagined has been put up to stop them making money ...or even building a house here ...even if they have the initial money to invest here. if anyone wants to hear about all the good things in croatia...then its best to just ask a tourist who has been here on holiday. i just read a 2 page article about vignjan on the peninsula of peljesac. apparently 80 houses have been bought up by english people . and its anyones guess at how many old dalmatian stone houses have been bought by other foreigners. croatias government has to put a stop to foreginers buying croatias most attractive and historically significant realestate . only croats of croatian origin should ba allowed to do so at the moment . it is too early to sell complete dalmatian stone house villages to foreigners. and i am not a racist . its just that croatia is not ready for this. its like watching a littile turtle getting eaten by a shark as soon as it swims into the sea for the first time. hi alfie. im a fast typer . and i dont care about my spelling. its obvious that my message is getting through to yoo. haha.eeeeee poor guy.

I for one am not knocking you, it just seemed to me that you had or have a lot to get off your chest. Now your saying that you like living in Croatia, so things can't be that bad then can they? I admire your brutal raw honesty! May be you should ignore the politics, but that wouldn't be the right thing to say. Nothing's going to change quickly.

Valiant, you know, I know and every single foreigner and westward looking Croat knows how screwed up this place is. I have never ever met a foreigner who lives and works in Croatia, who is not shocked by what a mess this country is in.
Just because Ghost is all over this forum like a cheap suit, changing names more often than most people change underwear, just because a few people make a living from selling overpriced property to ignorant foreigners does not change the real situation, just because "many people" are blind to reason and the truth because of the years of conditioning and propaganda, its simple to me, any person who is so nationalist is stupid, its so idiotic to refuse to hear the truth about your own country and deny what its happening its untrue. The only parallel I can find is the catholic church who for years covered up priests who abused children, thankfully they have moved on, I hope I will be able to say the same for Croatia one day.
This is not a football game, its not I score one goal and ghost scores the other and whoever scores the most goals wins..She has managed to turn it into some chidlish games..thats her level..but..this is life..and regardless of what is happening in this forum..and whatever a few well intention foreigners who unintentionally are adding the widespread denial say...Croata is in a complete mess....I actually started talking about what food is not available in Croatia for a good reason, not because its annoying to not be able to get basic things, but so people can realise how fiercely they will defend Croatia and the untruths people will say to defend anything they consider an attack on Croatia...they will lie...they twist the truth and they will say whatever we have is better anyway..
...I hope you all believe this..because ...UNTIL THAT ATTITIDE CHANGES, AND CHANGES IN THE MASSES; THE HUGE MESS THAT IS THE REAL CROATIA WIL REMAIN CROATIA..
When you start to deny the truth and you think that you are a friend of Croatia, YOU ARE NOT..YOUR ARE THE ENEMY BECAUSE YOUR ATTITUDE IS EXACTLY WHAT HOLDS THIS PLACE BACK.
Croatia is not sitting on a beach, whilst sipping relatively inexpensive coffee...that is a holiday...the real Croatia has many dark twists and turns and needs everybody’s help not everybody’s denial. One thing is for sure, if Croatia carries on as its going, the young in Croatia will continue to have no opportunities, they will continue to take 8 years to finish a 4 year degree, just to stay off the job market for longer and they will continue to live with their parents until they are 35.
This country could be something....but not until the people who not only see the problems, but have the balls and desire to change them...are in the majority.......
People who complain about the vile politicans yet back up their lies. are just as bad as them, you make me sick!

Possible yes, see how China's changing, the Chinese are now the new world tourists, but may be they've grasped market values quicker.

People who complain about the vile politicans yet back up their lies. are just as bad as them, you make me sick! Please don't get on your high horse and spout crap about me lying about Croatia or changing names. There is only one ghost and........ I have always said that we have problems with our political system in Croatia which in turn has made a mess of our economy. What is funny though is when ever I say what things are wrong with Croatia.... you never acknowledge it. When ever I say good things about Croatia... you attack it. You have a problem with me and a few others on here..... and for your fun and kicks you go around cr*pping on peoples posts..... Now that a few people have started on your posts you go and hide for a few days then come on here acting like you love Croatia.... and you want to help her. Well if you want to help Croatia... 1. Don't call Croatia a NATION OF LIARS. 2. Quit exxagerating everything and when people say nice things about Croatia that do live here...acknowledge what they are saying. The people that do live here do acknowledge there is a problem with Croatian Government. Just because they don't agree that the whole country is a hole like you want to paint it. Does not mean that they are wrong. If it was such a giant mess like you keep saying than I ask why do you stay. We have all asked you the same question? WHY? If you really do live here and you really run a business than why is your business still up and running. You should be bankrupt by now with all the corruption? I guess you are either lying about having a business or your lying and your business is making some money. It must be making quite a bit of money if you are able to eat out so many times per week at expensive zagreb restaurants? ? Do you understand now why no one believes you.... your stories have changed so many times.....what you are saying is not backing up what is going on in Croatia. Valiant seems to be the only one that backs you up. I have a very large and extensive family in Croatia. I have heard it all from all of them. I even have family that have moved here from other countries. Yes they have there complaints a few have had encounters with bribes the majority have not. Yes some of them are living month to month and it is very difficult to make ends meet and some are better off like me and others that are making a very good living here..... Sometimes you have to trade things off.... for example I have some relatives that moved here from America. Sometimes they complain alot about the things like the ease of having convience foods that you can microwave and the service that they get from some of the places that they shop..... but they say the trade off is worth it. They do not fear letting there children go out and play and the mother is not on alert at all times for child kidnappers/rapist... when she lived in america she told me she had her children on a little leash... I can't understand that .... that is a shame. She also says she never fears walking here at nite with the children or by herself like she did in America. I have another family member that has come here back from Canada... he has nothing bad to say about Canada but he seems to like it better here and does find things difficult at times but still will not live in canada again. And another thing.... you say our property is over priced.... well maybe you think that... but our coast is still far cheaper than many other countries coast line and ours is still much nicer, cleaner and not over built like some coastal towns. Plus why if it were so expensive or over priced would all you stupid foreigner like yourself buy... did you not say you have a vacation home on the coast... I guess you were a real a**sss buying that over priced property?.... Sometimes I think Valiant is right.... foreigners should not be allowed to buy historic dalmation stone homes... because they go and tear them down and put up some sh**tty ugly monstrosity that looks terrible and out of place on our coast. Plus Emiz... you said we should be fixing the mess.... well fixing the mess is maybe not letting you foreigners buy up our coast, because some person is desperate for money they sell there home that has been in the family for hundreds of years out of desperation.... That means you foreigners are taking advantage of Croatia dismal situtation...... if you think Croatia is in such a mess?. Maybe to get our country out of this mess we should charge foreigners sky high taxes for the privelage of buying a home on our coast and why is it that all these foreigner find it okay to cheat the system and pretend they are going to start a business to bypass the laws in order to get a home quicker.... Why is it that foreigners are cheating the system and renting out propertys and not paying our messed up government their fair share of taxes..... it seems quite all right for foreigner to be corrupt. HMMMMM? ;)Also you never did post those pics of that store that you said you were going to post and you never posted a picture of someone homeless living in a box in Croatia. I wonder why. Maybe because you don't live here or you could not find what you said existed here and what we have been saying about Croatia all along is true. And instead of replying to our posts with name calling and stupid childish behavior.... because you know what will happen if you do.... the webmanager is going to delete it or everyone is going to cr**pp on you again.... 8-)So answer the questions that we ask or provide us with some real answers to some real problems that we have, not exxagerated problems like how nothing exist in our markets.... So many posters have said all the same things.... you can get anything you want in Croatia it might not be easy but you can get it with some effort. also on restaurant prices so many people disagreed with you but you continued to argue that you were correct.... :(maybe you need to be a little more honest with yourself.... maybe you dislike Croatia so much it makes you biased about anything you talk about that has to do with Croatia? I hope that the future posts can be informative and rewarding and not drop to the level of name calling because I hate to berate you on this forum... it is not fun and quite boring. I rather be learning from these posts.... GhostWriter I am now going to get my coffee and take a nice dive in the sea...... the humidity is killing me.

After your reply to Mr. Stek, you have finally gone too far, I won't be reading any of your childish rubbish simplistic nonsense, don't respond to me anymore, you spiteful child.. Hopefully simple people like you will become the minority very soon in Croatia.
I didn't read your last post, but I am 99% certain I could guess its contents, you have nothing valid to add, you don't know anything, you also have no standards, go out grow up and do something with your life, I wish you well in finding yourself.

We all know the reason you don't want to answer the post..... Because you have been lying to all of us. You don't want to get caught in anymore lies...... That is quite all right ;D Actually it will be a good thing if you don't reply to any of my posts. That is what most people on this forum have been praying for.... your silence! As for your accusations of Mr. Stek.... do you really think I care. It looks quite obvious you wrote the posts... all the posts are 5 minutes apart from in the afternoon to midnite.... what a coincidence! If I read anything about what Mr. Stek has to say.... it will not be from a forum that has no way to figure out who any of us is or if any of us are telling the truth about who we are. I will personally read what The Stek family have to say from the newspapers and listening to what he has to say to the news. By the way it is quite funny now you know GENERALS...hehehehee ;D Like someone posted before.... who don't you know in your little....ooops I mean large imaginary world.

F... all of you, I am a Croatian born and breed, I don’t like many things going on in this (my) country and can talk about that, I can say I hate this and I hate that, but when in Rome do as Romans do…..
As far as Australia is concerned, I would need a visa, need a doctor’s review of my health, need a bank account with enough money, all of that for a visit!! I mean what the f…., and for US and for UK is the same.
All of these countries are having problems but you do not see everybody bitching about that.
All I can see is few outlanders saying like asses they are “well it is not same like is in America or au. or UK.” I want kangaroo jumping around and McD on every corner and fish&chips stands on streets.
Emiz we didn’t make you to come to live here so you can go when ever you like, as far as Valiant goes, you were born in Australia and got Croatian passport trough stupidity of F.Tudjman and his government, what did you think, just because you came back from A. that all of us will fall over and die, you live here so you play by these rules or you don’t play at all, move back and stop whining …
Croatia will be forever stuck to “Balkan” area because it is geographically set here and it can be moved (apart from trying to move it with nukes),.
We can only compare our country perhaps to UK, because when we had civilization US and Aus., had stone age, and to say: to UK civilization was brought by mainland Europe.
In this modern world everybody is trying to compare one to another, and we all are different try moving to Serbia or somewhere more south or eastern and then run back here….
By by by , never to see you again…
P.S.: for Croatians ing on Cro. on this forum, there is a better place for that, try to engage in politics or in journalism, and not bitching to foreign visitors because of low pay or your depression.

My engagement in politics wouldn't change anything. Many have tried and failed. This country is not ripe for any drastic changes. So for the time being it's only possible to be critical and talk about things. We just discuss things here. This is a virtual community where people discuss different issues and everyone is entitled to their opinion. Thanks for your precious advice about possible career options .

O.K. no by by, just tried to wait to see some reaction, didn't offer any advice about carreer change. Even in virtual community there is a thing called common curtesy and constructive critisism. There is no sense in JUST sh..ing all over something and not to expect reaction. I'am not nationalist (I even have a SLO passport next to my CRO one) but I have a good mind in kicking some ass on this forum.
As far as engagment in politics and that Cro. is not ripe for any change, precisely that is the reason why there is no movement because young (or not so young :-)) people fell like that, and that is just wrong.

whatever guest has summed up croatian mentality ."when in rome do as romans do " . hahaha. we arent in rome mate.aaaa u know what italians are like ay? . and i was not expecting croats to be falling over in awe of my glory when i came to croatia , you stupid person(whatever guest) .you homegrown croats behaved like idiots towards me because of your inferiority complexes . (the croats with whatever guests attitude and there are maaaaany of them ) markov trg is a whole new issue lately. as far as im concerned ..those demonstrators on markov trg should be replacing our politicians jobs. they are proof of croats out there who want a change and arent living in denial.
an d "whatever guest " / or "ghost" ... foreginers are buying old dalmatain houses and renovating them . they are not knocking them down and building concrete bunkers in their place. when i first came to croatia ...i was freaking out over old dalmatian stone houses ..i wanted one. and the local croats didnt value them at all. believe me. and now...since theyve seen foreigners focusing only ond old dalmatian houses ..now they are all of a sudden croat pride and joy. even croats like them now. actually croats are still more likely to knock down stone houses and build concrete boxes. but still i dont want foreigners buying realestate here . unless they are married to a croat or of croat origin . they really should bring a stop to this urgently . and croatian economics ministers are unusually untalented. cirkvenac and suker. its a bit weird if you ask me. its like they were intenitonally thrown there to keep croatia in economic stagnation and risky for investors so that people who are in high positions can have the need for selling off croatias ex comI disagreeets and making millions . and locals selling old dalmatian houses to foreigners because they have to buy a pigeon hole in a concrete bunker in the city so that they are closer to everything . electricity is going up too ..petrol went up today. all this..and every year ..croatias unemployment level is going to go up too, if suker and friends dont do something to encourage real investment and production in croatia. or else it wont be just me going back to australia..there will be many more croats seeking aussie visas. while the english and others buy up croatian realestate and only live here during summer. and homegrown croats love bagging aussies like me by bringing up convicts from england and steel balls and chains and kangaroos . why? im a croat from australia . i come in peace. dragging other family members along . this is good for croatia. we only have 4 million people here. whats with the negativity towrds croats returning here ay ? eeeeeeeeeeeeee.we came here to marry your nicest girls and be rich and successfull. im sorry but this really is croat mentality that i encountered 1st hand when i came to croatia. and i understand it after having lived here for 10 years. communism = jelousy2.
