What do Croatians want the government to issue a statement to the world "FOREIGNERS ARE PROHIBITED FROM BUYING PROPERTY IN CROATIA"
KIND OF SENDING OUT A HOSTILE MESSAGE
I can't imagine anyone else doing this, and the same people who want to buy there also want to run companies there.

I can actually understand it....Croatia's coast is being sold down the hill...but we now live in a global world...and if Croats can own property in the uk, Germany, Australia, Usa etc then foreigners should be able to own Croatian property.

Bed time for you! Croatia should encourage the right type of immigrants to get the economy going. Immigrants always work twice as hard as those who take their country for granted. A lot of these problems are planning problems or the lack of, not down to nasty foreigners. Who's going to keep the Croatian population going anyway?

I have 2 feelings on foreigners buying property on the coast here.
1. I think old stone house should be restored and not torn down and crap put up. Keep things to the original look of the home... If it started out a stone house it must stay a stone home and be made to look like it has been there for hundreds of years.
2. Alot of foreigners are not doing anything for the economy..... they buy there homes, stay a couple of weeks in the year. which means that they are not really contributing to much to the economy. Or they rent out there places and don't pay the taxes, they are cheating the system. Also they are cheating the system by saying that they are starting business here, so they can buy property faster then do things the correct and proper way.
I am sure if I go to other countries, America, UK.... they will not allow me to cheat their system or go around the laws. I will be treated harsher because I am a foreigner. I will be scrutinized.... sh**t I would not be able to buy property unless I was citizen anyway?
I think Croatia needs to crack down on people cheating. Starting with our own people!!!! Then on to the foreigners who think they can come here and make an easy buck on the back of a desperate Croatian.
I also do not think because you are australian coming back to Croatia that you are not Croatian..... that is ridiculous....
If your parents are Croatian and you are born anywhere in the world.... FACE IT YOU ARE STILL CROATIAN....YOU CAN'T ESCAPE IT! ;D ;D ;D

i have nothing against freigners . i just dont think that croatia is ready for this. for now they should be looking for the return of foreign croats and their familys. and other foreigners should be allowed to invest here but not in realestate. but theres no incebtive for that at all from the part of the govt or people here , is there? foreigners are just buying property and dont even live here . i cant blame them hahaha. id do the same if i were from the uk etc.. malta regrets ever selling any property to foreigners and im pretty sure that they dont allow it any more. and theres another couple of meditteranean counties that have also banned the sale of realestate to foreigners. i saw a tv report about this but i cant remember exactly the countries involved. just take a look at how many realestate agencies have opened in dalmatia all because they see the potential foreigners have here ....to make a lot of money without doing anything .and alot of old people who cant wait to sell their stone houses. in trogir about 4 years ago i remember seeing an old stone house in the old town, it was 130.000 dm. now its worth about 300,000 euros. and the price has skyrocketed because of foregin interest .. and not because of croatian economic factors. and now that stone house is far out of reach for the vast majority of croats here. the croatian realestate values have nothing to do with croatias economic success . but by uk , german , italian , interest. all of which have better economys than croatia. its become something like a "food for oil " program in croatia. let us buy your realestate and we will open a business here . haha. and everyone knows that hardly anyone will have the courage to open a business here .

oh come along now, the international property market is a huge business, do you want Croatia excluded from that. You can buy quite freely in the Bahamas which has the best beaches in the world, so what's the problem. Again its not good publicity for your country. Simply produce protection orders for those areas you deem as beautiful (ha ha as if anything is simple in Croatia!) Stop bashing foreigners.

. You can buy quite freely in the Bahamas which has the best beaches in the world, . Ooops..you've done it now...didn't you know that the Croatian beach is better than anywhere else in the world? Even though there is no sand, many places are concreted in true communist style and getting into the water can be a very painful experience. Some of those rocks are like walking on needles.

Are all the beaches rocky? What about Hvar? Personally-it is not the beach unless there is sand!

Rocks and pebbles. If you want sand, go to Brac. If you're after 24 hour clubbing on the beach, go to Pag.

If you are visiting Dubrovnik and want sand, the only place to go is the East West Beach Club. www.ew-dubrovnik.com
