Sharon Try these 2 sites for info on Hvar and tours www.hvar.hr/index.htmwww.atlas.hr/applic/eng/excursions.phpAs well as organised tours the public transport sytem is excellent and you can easily get to other parts of the island (Starigrad, Jelsa, Vrboska) using it. Taxi boats leave the port for various Pakleni islands almost constantly (cost 10 to 20 kuna return). They also do trips to beaches further down the coast (such as Milna) but these only leave once or twice a day. The tourist office in the Arsenal has details. Another fun thing to do is to hire a motor boat for the day (price last year was about £23 including petrol for one that will hold 4 to 5 people) and do your own 'tour' of the Pakleni. If you do this be sure to get one with an awning and do not exceed the limits that the owners put on about the maximum distance you can travel as the sea conditions can change further down the coast. As you have probably gathered we have been visiting Hvar regularly for some time so if you have any more questions let me know. Sandra

Graham Thank you for your kind words, but unfortunately due to the high cost of hosting the site we have had to close it down. We are now looking for a cheaper server to host it and hope to come up with an even better site after this years holiday when we are driving to Croatia and trying out camp sites and private rooms (revisting our youth in the late 70's when we did this every year). However, we still have our contacts in Split/Hvar and hope to spend Easter there next year. Sandra Sandra

Sorry to hear about the site Sandra. It used to generate a few enquiries for us!
Try easyspace hosting it is about as cheap as you can get and is reasonably reliable. A little sponsorship may help you as well.
