Hello there, Your website is wonderful and full of information. We are going to Croatia - Oct.3-12 and need a reliable car hire company. I was recommended Uni-rent - do you have any feedback on this company or other recommendations? We land in Split and then spend two nights in Trogir, 3 in Ston and 4 in Dubrovnik. I was also told that in Dubrovnik - it was best to turn in the car. We are staying at Hotel Zagreb and I understand there is good bus service to the islands and departure points for the ferries. ANy advice you can provide would be appreciated. Many thanks.

There's a car hire company on the jetty at Split (opposite the Riva). We hired a van there last summer and they actually waived the extra money we owed them (we were caught up in the notorious coastal road gridlock on our return from Imotski). Sorry I can't give you the name but you'll easily find them...

Some Car Rental Companies in Croatia are quite relaxed and trusting. My boss hired from Dubrovnik Airport and although he had pre-booked on the internet, they didn't have a record of it. However, when he told them how much he paid they told him that they would forget that and charge him only half price. They didn't require any security or ID and just told him to bring the car back in one piece!
