Hi, This is a great site with lots of friendly helpful people so I thought I would post this ad in the hope that I may get some honest info to help me make my decision. I first went to Croatia 2 yrs ago and I met a guy from Split whilst staying on Hvar. And well the rest is history I stayed for 2 months. We have stayed in contact since and I have just got back from there again and I am looking to go out for the summer. He lives in Split and I am an Australian who has been living in London for 4 years. The questions I have are: 1. How easy would/is it for a foreigner to intergrate into Croation life, are they welcoming. 2. Is there much of an expat community in Split, would it be possible for me to attend a college to do courses in Croation. 3. What is day to day life like living and working there. 4. How long do you think it would take to learn Croation. 5. We are both in love and know that if it wasn't for the logistical nightmare of where we live that this would be something very special, am I stupid to pursue this 6. Are there many business opportunities in Dalmatia for English speakers?? Any help, advice opionions would be really really appreciated. thanks.

I'm currently learning Croatian in London via evening courses at the University of Westminster. It's not an easy language if, like me, you have no prior experience of Slavonic languages. So it might take a while to master it properly.
But true love is meant to conquer all! (indeed many of my classmates are there because they have Croatian husbands, wives, boyfriends or girlfriends).
