Hi,
I have a Calor Gas portable fire which runs on Butane only, not Propane. Does anyone know if it possible to get the 11Kg bottles of Butane in Croatia, maybe from Butan Plin d.o.o ?
cheers.

Frederick,
You could try contacting a local marina - they may be able to point you in the right direction.
Cheers,
Steve

Change the regulator to a propane one and you should have no problem. I use both in my caravan and change from butane to propane in the winter months to get better gas pressure in the cold weather. Butane does not readily turn from liquid to gas at low temps.

I brought some portable Calor gas type heaters with me from UK. I know I will need different regulators but how do I get empty bottles to refill or full bottles with no empty one to exchange?

Hi fidobsa, we have a bunch of local petrol stations who do bottle exchanges and supply the necessary regulators and bits and bobs. So few people here have town gas, most use "Calor" bottles for cooking. I guess it'similar where you are.

If you don't have one to exchange, they charge around 300 KN deposit, which, of course, you'll never see again, but you'll have gas.

I tried on Sunday in several petrol stations but none were willing to part with a full bottle without an exchange. Sunday was perhaps not the best day though as they would probably need guidance from the boss on whether to do it and what to charge.
