I just finished her new book "They Would Never Hurt a Fly: War Criminals on Trial in the Hague". Very disturbing, but enlightening read to understand recent events in the Hague. She only highlights a very few of the war criminals, but with deep emotion and a call for Croatians to "break silence." Anyone else read this book yet?
I also have her book "How we Survived Communism and Even Laughed" which was also a good read. I've been trying to read, over the last nine months, as many books about Croatia/Balkan region as I can, as well as novels written by regional authors. Any suggestions would be welcomed, as well as movies.

Not yet read any of Slavenka's books but your comments and others are highly recommending.
"fighting for peace" - a good book about Bosnia By General Michael Rose
"The Serbs" - by Tim Judah, most Serbs say he is anti-serb, but mostly it's anti-Milosevic and the corrupt things he has done in our name
Films worth watching?
"No Man's Land" - Hilarious film and a killer for irony (no pun intended!)
"Lepa sela, Lepa gora" or something like that. A good story and quite depressing, but worth watching to educate yourself on the whole balkan tragedy
