Hey y'all, what's up??? ;D I am actually not a Croatian however, my boyfriend is. He talked about a wine that's made by his uncle in Dalmatia (or somewhere close). I am not quite sure about the spelling but it could be something like Babiè or Bebiè. Or something else but god forbids. Anyways, I want to find out the correct spelling for the wine so I can get it for him next time he's back (as a surprise). I am currently in Ontario, Canada and it would be great if anyone can provide me the info where I can get this here! Thanks a bunch!! Take care guys

Blatski plavac is red wine. Some of the most famous Croat winemakers are Grgich from California, Nobilo and Babich from New Zeland, and Boskovich from Australia.

wine that comes from around Šibenik area. Primošten area to be more precise.Strong heavy red wine. I love it

There appears to be many Canadian Croats in Croatia. Some of the time. Part of the time. The home grown and brewed wines are extremely good. Some are very powerful. You can't really go wrong. Cheap white wine from Jolly's or Konzum at under £1 per litre is very drinkable. (White wine is rare with the local brewers. It's often brown). The home grown stuff. If it tastes plasticky or is cloudy...leave it. The wine is the bonus. And if you smoke, the cheap fags or tobacco is the double bonus. Bibic, Babic...okay. But if there is good home grown on offer (and everyone will give it you, happily, by the five litre), and they have been doing it for generations, well, it's your birthday. They know what they're doing. If you like wine, you'll be okay. The tongue is the key.

My Croatian wine recommendation: Dingac. A superb red wine from grapes grown on Peljesac peninsula. It has slight vanilla and cherry flavour.

Agree with Dingac. It is actually a district. And then again the very best I have tasted was a mixture from Dingac and Postup on Peljesac. Winemaker Grgic and rather expensive - but good to impress someone who think they know a lot about wine.

Agree with Dingac. It is actually a district. And then again the very best I have tasted was a mixture from Dingac and Postup on Peljesac. Winemaker Grgic and rather expensive - but good to impress someone who think they know a lot about wine. Grgic wine is very good.... but if you want to buy it outside of Croatia. He calls himself Grgich. I like his wine from napa.... but his wine from his croatian (korcula)vinyards is much better.
