A month is okay, longer would be better. It also depends on what you like to do. Are you into historical places or just partying and hanging around a beach and clubs.
Every place in Croatia has historical value and worth seeing.
Dubrovnic Split Zagreb Zadar These for sure.
If you still have time, varzdin osijek rijeka If you are religious(believe in mother mary) swing over to Medjugore in Hz.
In one month, you can probably see everything Croatia has to offer but you won't be able to stay long in each place.
If you like partying, I am sure there are alot of people on this forum that will tell you where to go in the evenings in their towns....also just stop and ask people what is interesting in their town to see....People of Croatia are very friendly, they will be very helpful at telling you what you must see! Have fun! ;D

Do you wish to buy property or just visit? Not clear.... makarska is quite nice but in wintertime full of pensioners coming for the wintersun rather than the young coming for fun, as is the case in the summer. depends on what you want/expect out of your time there...But do think & prepare carefully, setting a goal beforehand

I will be visiting first. I actually finally got all the dates settled with my flight. I will be there from June 13th to August 5th. I am just planning to visit, but considering moving to CRoatia, depending if its a place for me.
I hope the 1.5 months will help me decide if I could actually afford to move there later on.
I'm just going to relax and try to get a feel of how it would be to live there.
I am really excited...just worried about how the locals will see me as. If me being Asian (Korean) would matter.

I'm just going to relax and try to get a feel of how it would be to live there. I am really excited...just worried about how the locals will see me as. If me being Asian (Korean) would matter. i will give you my personal perspective on your desire to move here... I get the feeling that you are from America, even though you have a Korean heritage... (which is very very rich one indeed... over 5 thousand years old and one of the most robust people ever on earth with the most logical language developed by a genius warrior king--as claimed by Discover science magazine ).... i know a little bit about Korea because I am half Korean myself... Reason i said you must be from America is because you are applying American thinking to your move to Croatia... that is, you will be judged by your appearance... You wont. Croatian people really dont care what you look like, your skin color doesnt matter as long as you are a good person. People here have given me looks at time, not of malice but of curiosity... and once the curiosity is sated, (and i say dobar dan with a smile) they move on... they ask me where i am from, i tell them, and we drink beer together. thats it. people from Croatia are beautiful, both inside and out. And i am very very happy and consider myself lucky that i could serve such beautiful people with my profession. One note of caution tho... like everyone said, unemployment rate is very low, so finding jobs, especially for a foreign nationals will be difficult at best. my advice to you is, maybe invest in a business... and go from there. I hope you decide to stay. Rich

Wow! ;D Thank you for your input!!! You are Korean and what else? If you dont mind me asking? Also have you lived in Croatia for a long period of time? I really hope I would enjoy my stay...however because of the unemployment rate, I'm a bit worried. I am very young and so I will not be able to invest in business yet. I hope to finish school this year in America, but my profession ( i believe ) would not be handyin Croatia. I am studying to be a Graphic Designer. I love art!! ;D I am not well off here in the states because I am still a student. After reading everyones input, I guess it would be wiser to start a career in the states, California, and save money to move to Croatia and invest as you suggested. I am really excited to visit Croatia and I cant wait...if I could I would leave now, but school holds me back. Also where do you stay in Croatia. I'll be staying in MAKARSKA. Well, hope to hear from you soon! Thanks again for your reply!! ;D

Hi,
I am considering moving to Croatia and will be going over in April. I am in the process of finding out what it takes for a foreigner to purchase property and start a business. What is the best way to go about this?
Excited about the prospect

I know you had posted a while back Sandreen, but I just came across your post and noticed you said that your profession would not be handy in Croatia. I would disagree with that statement, as I have some knowledge of graphic design and commercial photography myself. Companies here are increasingly investing in advertising, which I can see in the future will get even more agressive. There are few advertising agencies in Croatia and most of them are doing very well indeed. There aren't that many people studying graphic design here, so if you are ambitious about your prospects here, I would advise you to take your portfolio with you, ring around and show it to as many design agencies as possible. You might start getting some work on a freelance basis, and perhaps set up your own business. Graphic design in Croatia is positioned for rapid growth IMO. I wish you luck!

Sandra, I think you have the Croatian dream of living on the coast AND having a good job.....that is not easy at all. Not impossible, but almost everything that happends in Croatia happends in Zagreb. If you learn Croatian and somehow manage to get a visa you could probably get a job in Croatia for $800 a month to start with.
