can anyone tell me definitively, what are the croatian laws on heavy machinery - building work during the summer in tourist areas?

zooey is right, some people do not follow those rules, but they can he heavily fined. Ignore Ghost, she probably read it in a website somewhere.

I am laughing you because YES there is a law..... but who the hell is following it..... someone down the street from me has beeeeen pounding all day. That is why I said yeah right..... because no one bothers to listen....

why dont you report them? Why... you never do something you are not suppose too. Why would I not want my neigbor to get ahead... I am not jealous. If it gives me little headache... so what... my neighbor needs more room for his children.... why denie him. Sometimes it is better to be a good neighbor than to do what is correct.

Unfortunately, despite the law, public works still go on so major traffic jams have just finished in the Kastela as they have been laying new sewerage pipes.

Maybe there is (and should be) a difference between 'building construction' and public civil engineering projects that require work to be carried out as soon as possible for the greater common good.
Sewerage pipelines is pretty important work, not something that should be put on hold if at all possible. This may explain the work in your area still going on?

When I lived in Croatia no one payed attention to that law. If people needed to work on their home they did.
Maybe things have changed since I was there. I don't think though things would change that much in a couple of years.
