Hello. I am looking for information about when dsl service began in croatia, and current prices for a 1 or 1.5 Mbps connection.
For the second part, I have been to some ISP sites, but I do not understand the croat language, so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

all isps have more or less the same prices, as at the moment all of them have to go through t-com
t-com prices are: max start (384/64, 512Mb included) - 99kn/month max flat (384/64, flatrate) - 378kn/month
both can be upgraded in speed, with a plus in price: 768/128 - main price plus 120kn/month 1536/192 - main price plus 290kn/month
so if you want a 1,5Mbs flatrate, they'll rip you for 668kn/month, close to 90€
if you have t-com fixed telephone line, the installation is 1 kn...
about the first question, dsl arrived en masse last year, cause it was a total ripoff before that (not that it isn't even now...)

Thanks for your help. It is appreciated. I am looking for the official initial date DSL began, as I am making a comparative chart of all european countries, so it doesn't matter for my purpose if it was a ripoff, in fact it helps See, 1Mbps here costs about 165 € (138 € for the lucky few (2%) that are covered by a small alternative ISP) which is why I'm doing this. One of our telco's excuses is that since they started service in 2003 the prices are still high. So if there is a difference in the official start date I would appreciate it if you told me. Thanks again in advance.

Iskon 384/64 Kbps 79,00 kn 768/128 Kbps 199,00 kn 1536/192 Kbps 369,00 kn incl. 512 MB traffic, further 512 MB will cost 20 Kn Flatrate 289 Kn

Not sure which village you talking bout ;D, you may check the status right here. www.tportal.hr/maxadsl/dostupnostlow/fset.htmlJust select the area code "pozivni" and type into "broj" your phone number. BTW: to get the Iskon DSL rates you have to be conneted with T-Com DSL, weird ...

not weird, the only legal provider is t-com, it's still a monopoly on fixed telephony game
t-com even lobbied out potential VoIP providers 2 years ago, by goverment regulation making a company that wanted to provide VoIP pay 500.000kn for concession, although other normal (read non-VoIP) ISPs had to pay much less. hence, no VoIP isps in Croatia
government = t-com = corruption = death to free enterprise

They cant, i allready use 2 VoIP Providers. The fact is, with signup at VoIP provider you get a local phone number in a foreign country. Its nice if you a business with international clients cause rates to eg. Germany or USA are allmost cheaper then rates to fixnet in croatia. These calls will be forwarded with VoIP to Croatia. The other direction works fine too, i pay instead 3,05 Kuna (T-Com) 0,11 Kuna (Adricom) to Germany. On the other hand, til now there is no VoIP provider in Croatia offering local numbers.

Thank you. I tried and got this: Ipak, postoji rješenje. Budite heroj ulice i dovedite superbrzi internet u kvart! Jasno, heroj zaslužuje i poklončić iznenađenja.
Ako pak želite samo primiti obavijest kada ADSL stigne u kvart, pošaljite nam detalje za kontakt.
Can you help to decipher it.

Ok let me try.
There is a solution. Be the hero in your street and bring fast internet to your area. If you find other 15 ppl in your street wanting surfing with DSL, just make a name list and fax it to 08009009. If we have all we need, our engineers will come to you and you will be informed by e-mail as soon DSL is available. Hero deserves a surprise present. If you only want to be informed when DSL is available, just send us your contact details.
This means, you are one hundred thousand ppl in Croatia begging for DSL. Two words, "good luck"

sh.. - That was a lot of words just to say NO. The day I can get 15 people in my village to install a DSL connection is when the US gets a black female president.
Thank you for the translation - anyway.
Anybody with experience in Internet connection via short wave radio?
