There were hailstones in Istria in the Summer, knocked off a lot of grapes! Cost a lot of money, something to do with the weather in Europe in general (what a good subject).

How big is the biggest Croatian hailstone? Are we talking icey rain here, or big golf balls that smack you in the leg and knock you over?

Like beachballs ? you have to be kidding right. I wish I had seen it. I've only witnessed pebble sized hail in croatia. Cricket ball sized is the biggest I've seen in australia, and generaly it will hail in summer storms.

Well in reality, they were more like peas, but spitfire had posted about how Brits are obsessed with weather,sooooo.

sorry but sometimes the weather is the most interetsting thing on TV. Peas? A hailstone the size of a grapefruit landed in Nebraska in 2003.
