As far as I know, Latinica was the only current affairs TV programme which got anywhere near to asking the tough questions of politicians and leaders of the major institutions. Everywhere else I look I see only fawning journalists giving airitime for the good and the great to vent their propaganda. Globus is a possible exception.
I know Dudek was a popular TV series in the 70s and still has merits but it's hardly a replacement for the only believable current affairs programme. Do I feel the dead hand of state censorship at work? .... Or am I paranoid?

If you're paranoid, everyone is paranoid. These days, everyone is opposed to the tightening of HDZ control over HTV and turning it into its own PR agency.

Nothing much new about this , mates ; old habits die hard ( if , indeed , at all ? ) when I was at primary-school-age , we were all ordered and made to get out into the main streets of Zagreb , pitiful , provincial non-town , , in our Sunday-best dress and gear , and vawe the YUgo-flags at Tito and Jovanka , in their pope-like huuuugest , heaviest Merc anyone's ever seen... As some say : some people do akshuelly : deserve a certain Destiny ?

yeah , I keenly picked up some reasonable English , first at primary schools , then at XIIIth , then at Xth gimnazija in Zagreb ; then , more of same at the university , plus muuuch more & better , from some foreign girlfriends , which ( both : the language AND the girlfriends ! ) I much enjoyed , in more ways than I'd now care to start describing here ; after this , in between various soujourns in Switzerland ( SchwiitzerDuutch being a trully-horrible throat-disease , but I can and do still occassionally practicise and employ it , with relatively good and usually satisfying results! ) , then I did a stint at the beautiful Springfield College , Massachussets , U.S.A. ( which I'd recommend wholeheartedly , to anyone , who can get around to doing such stuff ) ; after which I was an Idiot enough , to return to Zagreb and there then complete some , ( in future , proven to be : entirely & completely Useless : University Diploma , which my late father proudly collected , in a black round-box , in my absence , since I have/had by then emigrated - together with my , then : thoroughly beautiful irresistible blondie , leggie new Croat-girlfriend , from Pestchenica , who later proved to be a Biiiig Miiiistake , not emigration-material at all - and entirely unfit to deal with and handle my/our future success , cash , Mercs and all that lot....) ; next , I got myself into Johannesburg , which was then in the province of Transvaal , in much hated and maligned and accused "Apartheid","racist" Republic of S. Africa ; there I first worked for AEG-Telefunken ( mostly : in German ) , then for Austro-firm of rail-maintenance world-champions , Plasser und Theurer G.m.b.H. , firstly : as an accountant , in German and in proper Queen's English and also ( when dealing with lower classes , labourers , mechanics , natives and the like ) using some Afrikaans ( which is an antiquated form of Dutch lingo ) ; after all of which , then I also had some good independent businesses there , enjoyed the Very , Very Best days of my entire life , between Joeys , Durbs , Cape province , Rhodesia , Botswana , Sun ( read : Sin ! ) City , S.W. Africa ( now re-named Namibia , in truly African fashion : one-man=one vote = but only once , ever again ! ) but : once that imbecillic , failed Post-Office bomber/terrorist , who later , somehow , courtesy of some incredible minds'-manipulation and media , later incredibly turned into some greatest international hero & Nobel-prize winner , Nelson Mandela , was set to walk free and into undeserved Presidency ( courtesy of idiotic ignoramuses & no-hopers called Andy Young of the U.S. , Jimmy Peanut Carter , Lord David Owen and suchlikes , idiots and manipulaters : all of them ) and after the fab country of SethEffrika was then handed on a silver'n'gold'n'platinum plate to Peking/Moscow/Stockholm ex-commies of the A.N.C. ( which "party" - read : corrupted-est Mafia/Mafiousi/rapists&murders all , de-luxe - is still in undisputed power , after all these Krazy years ! every "election" lasts for weeks & weeks on end , they have to count and re-count the so-called "votes" and fingerprints , until the correct result gets announced ! hehehe ) , so : I then ended up in odd-est of places like England ( London NW3 = Hampstead & Surrey KT10 and KT 11 i.e. Esher & Cobham , at first ) then : luvverly Toronto ( Ontario ) Canada , Hong Kong , Dubai , Bruxelles etc...) ; now , in this funny BelgoLand , I mostly deal and converse in this our beautiful , eloquent , colourful , cultured French , except on those , too-many , sad-est of occassions , when my wife succeeds into pressurising me into watching and suffering the revolting BBC 1 & BBC 2 and BBC World Service and CNN , Bloomberg , CNBC , EUronews .... so , Martin , maybe , just maybe : my english is not half as bad as your Croatian ? What sae yae , to all zis ?

ray51 - čestitam on your very impressive životopis, how old are you, surely you are retired?
Where did you learn to construct written sentences in English without the use of full stops but only with the use of commas, apostrophes and semi-colons? Your posts are really difficult to trawl through sometimes.
My Croatian language skills are improving, but the prevalence of dialects is a constant hindrance.

Martin : ( and any interested other/s ? Should you care to re-read my earlier , lengthy , sad posting ) Ever So Sadly : I'm now 60+ already , not in best health , by any means or imagination !, - and - courtesy of my current ( hey : hopefully , for not very much-longer : Anglo-SeffEffrikan , self-overrated , big headed wifey -cum-self-imposed ) money-master of too many an expensive Miiistake ! and of her , thoroughly imbecilic-idiotic "investment's" choices/decisions/losses , combined by the ever-ongoing criminal thefts by the U.S. Gov't and especially : British & Irish & Swiss & especially Austro/German , banks and governments alike : by now , I find me-poor-self- even after all the deprivation-stingeing on new cars , new mistresses and assorted other life-luxuries , so far : untold/undescribed here : suddenly entirely insufficiently affluent to properly retire ; now : that should teach some others , a few home-thruths , I hope and pray ?

Yeah , many of my drinking'n' other mates , from all countries and walks of life , have already suggested somewhat , somewhich , like a book , or a newspaper-editorial , occassionally/regularly ?; - if only I could be bothered to get off my lazy Croatian arse , and if anyone could pre-pay me a decent retainer , I'consider such a propostion , but : seriously , mate !

@ Ray...... OH....................MY......................GAWD!!! Have to agree whole-heartedly with Martin on this one. I'm sorry my dear but your posts, lengthy and HIGHLY amusing as they are, ( I always read them out aloud ) are very difficult to absorb. It is the crazy punctuation that seems to create a rambling of gibberish "palaver". You have advocated yourself as a worldly-wise, highly educated, much travelled, intelligent man of impeccable taste (though it sounds like maybe the women in your life have been questionable lol ) Is your background by chance Dalmation? Cheers ;D

;D ;D No, Mick and Deb and 09, Ray most definitely isn't a Dalmatian. In fact, he can't stand them. Now I'm awaiting Ray's righteous rage in response to this deeply unfounded insult. .

Akshuelly remind me never to be pedantic enuff (sic) to attempt to question or correct any posters grammar or spelling as it will shurely (courtesy Sean Connery!) lead to a lengthy monologue featuring an array of world leaders, countries and their woes (p.s. dont think I would have admitted to living near to Hampstead Heath )
