As published on Croatia Times....
Croatian Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor said she is certain that General Ante Gotovina awaiting a verdict in Hague on charges for war crimes will be freed.
Gotovina and two other Croatian generals are expected to receive their verdicts on 15 April.
Kosor believes that the trial will prove that Croatia’s war of independence from former Yugoslavia (1991-1995) was fought for freedom and that it was just.
I know nothing of the facts but should he be found not guilty then I would hope that court watchers will form the opinion that the Hague court isn't simply a witch-hunting exercise and that Gen. Gotovina was required to answer a strong case. Just being accused and charged is not a punishment in itself although many of those around me often prefer to take the opposite view. I hope for the opportunity to make this point to them.
