Disaster for tourism, business and pleasure travel. Croatia Airlines will be left with a de-facto monopoly and we all know what that means. One day, the national football team will score two own goals at the start of every match, just to align itself with the rest of the country.

Not good. The Balaton resorts in Hungary were hit when they stopped the low cost flights to the Balaton airport but at least there were still flights to Budapest. I wonder if Jet2 might take over the Zagreb route or even add it as a stop to one of their coast routes?

Conspiracy theorists are trying to fathom if the new Pleso management company, who are French, are merely poking one in the eye for a UK company .... because they can.

I'd have thought this is simply because BA fly the route and there isn't enough traffic for easyjet too.

According to an insider of my acquaintance, it has more to do with a near 60% increase in the per passenger charges in the pipeline. If that's the truth, then watch the fares sky rocket unless other carriers are somehow exempt from the "let's get Easyjet" tax?

I have flown BA more then Easyjet on this route as they are pretty much the same price at the end of the day, if you take into account the luggage cost, the cup of coffee and cupcake, the travel to Gatwick (for those of us to the North of London), oh, and free newspaper with BA (for a bit of light reading to pass the time away and freak out to see what you are flying into on arrival in the UK... tourists and terrorists).

Exactly, nail on the head......without competition only one way it can go, such a loss for Croatia, its tourists and its business people.

We have regualrly used EasyJet Gatwick-Zagreb because of family connections. Flights always 80%+ full. Got to be a non-economic reason for EasyJet pulling the route. Oh, and you can keep "Thiefrow" - where's my luggage ?
