Over the last few weeks I have followed the news as hundreds; no, thousands of refugees have left Syria and found refuge in neighbouring countries.
Of course these countries although providing ‘safe refuge’ are not suitable for long term living,
Thus many have taken unsafe sea journeys and paid bandits to cross the Mediterranean sea to Italy or Greece (during which many have lost their lives), and continued their quest through the Balkans to reach their goal Germany.
On their way they have overcome many obstacles, including the razor wire fence and police presence in Hungary.
Now finally they have reached their destination to the applause of all those in Munich who have come to welcome them.
And I wonder what was the point in all this, would it not have been a lot simpler to collect the refugees direct from Turkey or Greece in the first place and saved all this journey and all its problems ?
Quite possible I am missing something but not sure what.
I think the point is multiculturalism is some what at play here, topped off with mans inhumanity to man, greed and so forth. Why does my home country need to topple another so called "dictator"? Together with our "Western Allies" we already tried that and look at the results.... the latter is way worse then the beginning. We then created a vacuum and those that took over where either just as bad or even worse. I think we all know why, the underlining facts! While I have a heart and feel those true refugees need help, sadly in and among them there are way to many financial migrants trying their luck on the back of others misery.
Sadly the fact remains that Western politicians have no clue how to resolve the issue they created. I applaud Hungary for trying to uphold the rule of law concerning movement of people, but the likes of Merkel and others just frustrate the situation and their actions have created a "free for all".
That one sad picture of the child dead on the beach is heart breaking, but at the same time the story of how and why the trip is even sadder.... and not very comforting (gather all saw he returned to his town on the Syrian/Turkey border to bury his wife and kids). Unfortunately children die all the time in conflicts (even in Syria) and I don't see the West do much about it ... seems no desire by them to get to the core of the problem (although "Western democracy" isn't for everyone ... if we can call it "democracy"). I got several request to sign that UK tweeter petition, but I did not as I believe it's one thing to sit in the comfort of your home and just click a tweet petition and another to actually do something about the problem ... it needs to be fixed at the core. Millions march against such a conflict in that region years back and the Gov. of the day just turned a blind eye to the masses (citizens where not in line with policy).
Other then maybe Egypt and Turkey I don't see places like Kuwait, Saudi, Dubai and similar taking in these Muslim refugee. Israel today on the news said no and several Eastern European EU members said yes only to Syrian Christians, so these poor folks are like chess pieces. While I'm not overly religious, I also think there are issues of culture here, which may conflict at a latter date if one and all are allowed into Europe in such numbers. But then again, maybe this is what certain powers that be want .... create distractions, multiculturalism so people loose cultural identity and feel afraid to say anything, control via fear of the unknown (or even create something to scare the hell out of us) etc.
All I know is I and many others have had to hop, skip and jump through hoops to stay in countries, pay our dues and act like law abiding citizens, not milk the system or demand certain rights. So, when I see financial migrants abusing the system I do get a bit pissed!
