Wonder how this is going to play out? Just a bazaar situation all this, allowing masses of people to just enter Europe without any real checks and balances. Wonder if Winter will affect movement or just open up this route even more as less take to the sea?

Our neighbouring town of Cakovec is likely to have a few thousand unexpected visitors tonight. I imagine all our eastern and southern borders will be closed soon.

Probably. It's never been a problem for an army of tobacco smugglers.

They say the Hungary / Croatia border is sealed but what about the parts where the river Drava is the border? Have they got a soldier posted every 100 metres along the bank looking out for rowing boats?

They say the Hungary / Croatia border is sealed but what about the parts where the river Drava is the border? Have they got a soldier posted every 100 metres along the bank looking out for rowing boats? Not sure there is enough rowing boats to go around (could always hire paddle boats off the coast maybe for the winter season ... just make sure you supply life jackets). Worth an investment? Get in on the action a little. Some companies are making a mint out of this situation ... transport, mobile toilets, telicoms and food. Amazed no fast food chain has opened up in the area. Seems many of these "refugees" have money (even paying for taxi's in Austria). But good on Croatia so far... doing what looks like a good job of transporting them through to Slovenia and then we hope onto Germany. I think they should just create a bus service from Turkey to Germany direct. Have a few controlled stop-off points, but stop all this silly border stand-offs, refugee centers and SKY journalistic (or lack thereof) opportunities. We all know they want to go to German and Mother Merkal sent out her invite. That said, I feel a bit bad about how the German way of life will now get eroded from the inside out.
