Hi,
Does anyone know about the changes to Tourist Tax.
We have been notified of changes meaning 'we' as property owners now have to pay the tax and the guests pay it to us. There is also a requirement for a new password system.
It is to do with a recent change in legislation that is effective immediately!
This seems somewhat strange as guests are arriving shortly and we have to either get on a plane and sort it ourselves of arrange for a Punomoc to arrange for this to be dealt with on our behalf.
Any information would be great.
Thanks
Phil

Thanks for the heads up, I didn't see this anywhere.
Is there something on-line?

Try http://www.evisitor.hr..it is in Croatian only with no plans for other language useage New online system and currently operational.. You must register youself and guests online and then print off bill to be paid at post office/bank. We went to tourist office to register as usual to be greeted with this new system...local official registered us and it took 40 minutes, and he had been trained in the system. He predicted major difficulties for locals as well as foreigners using the system. Suggest you go to your local tourist office to seek assistance. Maybe someone could put together a step by step guide in English on how to use the system. Anna ,maybe a useful edition to the basic information you offer on your website for potential visitors...Sorry I cannot do it as I don't comprehend Croatian Hope this helps? ?

Thanks Velebit.
Did you get the impression then that there is no other way to pay the tourist tax apart from the new online system effective immediately. Our problem as an overseas owner is we are not in Croatia until July and have guests staying before then. We can't come to Croatia instantly! As an online system, even if it is in Croatian do you know if there is anything stopping us registering our guests from the UK? We could then print off the bill, email it to our property manager and ask them to make the payment on our behalf...perhaps?!!

Try Google translate for FAQ component of evisitor.hr website which attempts to explain what documentation is required etc and processes involved From my very limited understanding of above it seems you should direct any queries to your local tourist office by email or phone. Wishing you the best of luck in your quest for clarity.

I'm obliged to advise our customers about this, but what to tell them? They are all owners of properties here and pay tourist tax instead of komulnalna naknada. They don't get rubbish clearance but are exempt from paying for drains, street lights etc. We pay their annual tourist tax bills for them but I'm wondering what to do when they send their friends/family over for visits. We take them to the local police station to get those useless bits of paper (ahem! of course we do!) but now? I guess it'll all come out in the wash.

Down at my place, Komarna in Slivno municipality, the tourist office tells us to call a hitherto unknown person to get an ID for the evisitor system. People started to call and write emails two months ago, and nobody has got an ID so far. The person responsible has stopped answering his phone and never answered an email. Do you have the same absurd situation anywhere else?

Too true Ribaric! I've been using evisitor since January. I had my first foreign guests a couple of weeks ago so checked with the tourist office whether I still needed to register them at the police station. The answer was, in theory no but in our village in Međimurje yes!!! For me the system seems much better than before (especially if I no longer have to fill separate police forms and go there in person), but I was paying the tourist tax monthly by bank transfer anyway so nothing has changed on that front. It seems there are different systems across the country (no surprise there!).

I received my ID and password yesterday and think that the system is easy to understand - even if everything of course is in Croatian. As I can decode from the description, we now no longer have to register at the police as they can pull the information from the system.
Huge improvement - and now how to get the APP for iPad and Android?

I have registered myself and my sister. Have login and password. Can I register my daughter before she leaves the UK and give her the paperwork with her or do I need to wait until she is in the country. She will be paying her yearly tax at the Post Office in Zaton Veliki.
Also husband and younger daughter will be coming with me a week later. We have no internet in the apartment so it would be easier to do it before we leave rather than stand at the computer in the tourist office.

The email help appears to work really well. Had a fast reply.
Dear David, For family members you should pick category N - Vlasnici kuće za odmor i članovi njegove obitelji. Kind regards, Anita
