I am in the process of buying a house on Korcula. Could anyone advise the best way to buy furniture and whitegoods? I have heard that IKEA in Zagreb delivers but their delivery charges look hefty. Are there any furniture/whitegoods shops on the island itself?
Many thanks Hazel

Hi Hazel, There is a large hardware shop/builders providers (Vlado Commerce d.o.o), five minutes from Korcula town on the Račišće road. It sells everything from cement to white goods and the prices are also competitive. They don't sell furniture. There is a shop in Korcula town between the bus station and the marina which sells furniture and homeware. The woman who owns the shop is very helpful and can order in goods also if you wish. www.poslovna.hr/lite/vlado-commerce/63914/subjekti.aspxCheck around in Korcula town as I heard there is a local person who brings in orders once a week from Ikea, I don't have any more information on this service but I'm sure someone local will let you know.
