Vis?

The best way to get to Vis would probably be to go down to Ancona by train (you can take a bus from Treviso Airport to Venezia Mestre train station, and then a train from here to Ancona - you can search for timetables at http://www.trenitalia.com). There are direct ferries from Ancona to Vis, a route run by SMC Ferry (www.smc-ferry.com). Unfortunately, this route is only run a couple of times a week (not on Mondays) so you'd probably have to consider another option. The best would be to take one of the numerous ferries from Ancona to Split (see www.visit-croatia.co.uk/travellingaround/italy.htm#ancona for links). Perhaps you could take an overnight ferry from Ancona to Split, arriving there early in the morning, and then one of the local ferries from Split to Vis. Local lines in Croatia are run by Jadrolinija (http://www.jadrolinija.hr/jlenglish.nsf/home?openpage) and there are a couple of ferries a day running to Vis in early September. As a rough estimate, I would say that you would be in Vis at approx. midday the day after landing in Treviso!
