Has anyone else from UK been told by their accountants that they need to produce an A1 certificate in Croatia? This, we understand, is to prove we pay NI contributions for health and pension benefits elsewhere in the EU, (yes, I know ...) which would mean we have no requirement to pay again in Croatia.
However, we are actually UK pensioners and as such, don't pay NI contributions any more, due to our age. We live in UK and only spend max 4 weeks a year in Croatia. We own a company through which we rent out a holiday home and our accountants deal with all our tax and submit our financial accounts.
I've Googled but can't find anything. Apparently this should have been in force ever since Croatia joined the EU, but from Jan '19, the Croatian government are now cracking down on it.
I would be very grateful if anyone has any advice, please.

We asked about this and our accountant advises it is not required unless you are a resident. If you are resident then you'll probably be paying HZZO for health insurance anyway so what would be the point? Paul www.ruralpropertycroatia.com
