I am thinking about visiting Porec next year, and staying half board in a hotel, could you tell me if you can buy sandwiches for lunchtime anywhere in porec and how much it costs, if not could you tell me what there is to eat in cafes? Also could you tell me if it is expensive buying items there, and how much it costs to get from Porec to Venice? Thankyou.

If you really want to buy sandwiches, you probably can, although Porec is not England, and people prefer eating proper food to sandwiches. However, most shops and bakeries will cut you a roll in half, and even you might be able to then put whatever you want between the two parts of a roll. You can buy all kinds of snacks etc for lunch, at prices from £0.50 upwards. Excursions to Venice are about £35 - 40 this summer.

The most convenient place will depend on where you stay, but there are plenty of bakeries and a large SuperKonzum supermarket at the Lacop shopping centre on the main North South road, where you can buy all the makings. You can even buy UK style sandwiches in a triangular container there! I think they were under a pound, although I didn't buy any. There are also plenty of pizzerias. Generally things are cheaper than in the UK, although they seemed to be around 20% dearer than in Zagreb. Pizzas are around £3. Bottled beer in supermarkets is around 40-50p for a half litre. Fruit juice is about the same as in UK. Bottled water is between 35 and 50p for 1.5litres
