We are due to travel to Porec next week and having some fun trying to work out the best way of managing currency. It seems we are best to get local currency there so do we take stirling, euros, travellers cheques or credit cards - or a mixture? Any thoughts/advice gratefully received.

I think the best idea would be to take a bank/cash card so you can take money out from ATMs. In Porec, you'll find numerous ATMs dotted around; when you place your card in the machine, it'll be recognised as a foreign card and so you'll be presented with a choice of languages. In this way, you'll avoid having to take largish amounts of cash with you. However, I believe that in certain places (say restaurants), credit cards may not be readily accepted as a form of payment, so you might need to ensure that you take enough money out. Otherwise, if you do wish to take a bit of cash with you, sterling is absolutely fine and you'll find many, many places (banks, exchange offices, even hotels - but the exchange rate will not be that good in hotels!) where you can change your money.
