The UK embassy in Zagreb has announced that TRANSIT visas for Croatian citizens are to be abolished with immediate effect. As it affects only CRO citizens who change planes for international destinations (without passing through passport control), this decision is not much good. Particularly as British Airways has suspended its flights to Zagreb, a previous starting point for many passengers flying via London to international destinations.
The Home Office would do well to abolish ENTRY visas for Croatian citizens, as all other countries in the EU have done!

Thanks Stephen - good idea! We were trying to organise something similar for some time now. But somehow the response wasn't so good. Nevertheless, we'll try again - and we'll count on your signature!

The British Government are notoriously incompetent when it comes to immigration issues as has been demonstrated over the last few years. Probably the reason they claim that Croats still require Visa is to stop other ex-Yugoslavians coming to the UK via Croatia. It is very unlikely that this is still a problem, especially in comparison to other nationalities attempting to settle in the UK after recent world events, so it would be interesting to see what excuse they come up with this time. I suspect they might try and hold out until Croatia joins the EU when they will be likely forced to drop the Visa policy.
