From next Monday, July 26, new tilting trains will finally be introduced on Zagreb - Split route. As the reconstruction of the railroad is not yet completely finished they won't be reaching top speeds yet - the travel time will be about 6 hours. New trains will have the ICN sign (Inter City Nagibni = IC Tilting). Here are the summer schedules: Zagreb Glavni Kolodvor - Split 06.00 - 12.20 ICN 11.45 - 17.35 ICN 14.00 - 21.18 Marjan 17.20 - 23.13 ICN 20.10 - 05.56 21.50 - 07.02 22.55 - 07.23 Split - Zagreb Glavni Kolodvor 05.40 - 11.31 ICN 09.00 - 16.10 Marjan 11.18 - 17.14 ICN 16.30 - 22.53 ICN 19.06 - 04.31 19.54 - 04.53 21.14 - 05.54 21.43 - 06.30 Passenger trains will again stop operation in mid-September when the railroad will again be closed for the reconstruction. The works will (supposedly) last till mid-December when tre trains will finally travel on this route under 5 hours. p.s. please check exact departure/arrival times at www.hznet.hr as the HZ likes to change them often

From next Monday, July 26, new tilting trains will finally be introduced on Zagreb - Split route. Hi Nino, I saw one of the new trains come through Zapadni station in Zagreb 2 weeks ago (must have been on test or something???) They look great, can't wait to ride one. Call me old fashioned though but i'll still take the night sleeper train in future, much more civilised David

Yes, I saw them also on tracks in eastern part of Zagreb (where I live). I guess they are doing test-runs (and also there are drivers that need to learn how to operate new machines).
They bought Bombardier RegioSwinger VT 612 trains - they look OK although seeing some pictures from inside I'm rather sceptical about the comfort those seats will offer for a 6-hour journey. But we'll see...
I think it's rather smart to leave the classic trains on this route as well - both night trains and daily "Marjan" train. This also has to do with prices, I guess, since ICN will be more expensive. But they won't charge more untill they are capable to reach top speeds (December).
