Has anyone been to the Amphora Hotel? We are due to go soon and would be interested to hear what it is like.  |

Although I have never stayed in the Amphora I have been in it several times.It is a large, modern hotel in a bay just around the coast from Hvar town. The walk between the hotel and the town takes about 15 minutes and is a pleasant stroll along a man made path through terraced gardens (mainly cactus). It is well lit at night. Inside the hotel there is a small shop selling baech stuff and a large indoor swimming pool on the ground floor. A lft takes you to the upper floors where reception, the bar and dining rooms are situated. There are intenet facilities in the reception area which is in a big open plan space with the bar on the other side. There is a terrace outside the bar (with shade) that has great views over the bay and the Pakleni Islands. The restuarant is on the floor above this. The rooms are modern and of a reasonable standard. Most have balconies. There is satellite tv but the stations are mainly Croatian or German.
Directly outside the hotel there is a shingle baech with water sports.
