In recent weeks and months some of the posters on these boards been taking an increasingly negative slant towards Croatia, and just taking a negative attitude in general. Time and time again threads START off on a bad footing and it all just crumbles from there. I would like to remind everyone that this forum is about Croatia and intended to promote Croatia. That's not to say that everyone here has to recite twenty lines each day saying how great the country is, and can't say anything against it. But time and time again we see threads degenerating into petty squabbling and shoot off into random tangents. These boards are intended to help those wishing to travel to Croatia and those that live (or are thinking of living) there. I've lost count of the the number of times that someone has asked a legitimate question, seeking genuine advice, only to be shot down by some wisecrack or smart alec response. If someone's looking for advice, or has a legitimate gripe about something (or company/person etc)...really, that's not the most helpful reply, is it? Someone of you have been on here for a number of years, and for that I thank you. But you will also note that I have been more than lenient in allowing certain posts and threads. Trust me, other forums (and I'm not talking ones about Croatia, or even country-specific ones) would administer strict moderating here, there and everywhere. In some ways, I think that those that benefit most from these forums (i.e. those looking for help or advice) would be the first to step away...and then eventually we'd be left with a handful of posters arguing about the same old topics. (Maybe it's time to start a Facebook group for yourselves, guys - Croatia Arguers R Us So please, for the sake of the boards and for each other: think about your posts.

Thank you, Anna, I have been reading this forum for about 2 years, in an effort to gain information and insight prior to our relocation to Istria. My thanks to those who have posted intelligently. Unfortunately, there are some who, at best, are childish and at worst, rude and offensive. Other forums have moderators. This may be the way forward! Regards, Graham.

Thanks Anna, for allowing so many anti Croatian posts, you were losing friends in Croatia and abroad. Ban some people, if necessary.

I don't know what you want...
All of us say Croatia is an amazing place for a holiday...I am personally arranging a holiday there for 30 +people next year (including myself).
We talk about the difficulties living there and it seems to me the majority of Croats on this forum don't want foreigners to live there anyway.

I sense a ship on Martin Alec Wiseman. Travel there, it's great. I didn't know it was about promoting Croatia, honest m'lord. My posts are/WERE negative because my experiences were just that. What can I say? kiss and make up?

THANK YOUYou have lost quite a few people that were Croatian.... 2 to 2 1/2 years ago when I joined... quite a few of my Croatian family, friends... came on but stopped coming because of the negative and ignorant posts about Croatia & Croatians made by a few posters. I was off for about a year and came back to the same few negative posters.... it was disappointing. Now that you are going back to the original idea of this site.... you will get many people (Croatians) that will come back or come to this site that will be informative and will join because of the positive energy produced by the site!!!! THANKS AGAIN!!!!!

i can see anna's point. But it is difficult to write glowingly about what a wonderful experience holiday makers can have when so few posters are actually holiday makers. I live in the middle of dalmatia, go out to the islands and drive up and down the coast that soem peopel travel for half a day to reach on holiday. But I have only a vague memory of what kind of holiday it is and for leisure i am looking for more than a beach or sailing (i guess many tourists are too?) and for life, well the bureaucracy and corruption are issues.

Zorro, I've already been threatened and stalked, I don't need any more stress! Anna is right to point it out that it's a visit cro site, not "don't visit" site, though maybe comments on life here, problems etc might well just have a place in Debate? Plus it might be good to keep paid for articles out of the loop, sicne they're too false to be accepted anyway.
You're playing with fire Zorro, you'll be getting calls and worse if your'e not careful! ;-)

How does all this calling and stalking start?! - from this site?! Only one person has called/stalked people, she has called two of us at least, the other person had his website do it didn't take much to find him and another poster who had met me, told her my name and she looked me up on Zagreb's on-line phone book, it wasn't hard to find me given my surname is English/Irish. So yes all from this site.

David, it's Normano-Viking-Irish, with lots of folks in the east of the country (Co. Meath esp.!!!), so be more proud of it hehe Slatkica, the majority of posters have a single personality and post as such, okay, some have new or different names (Gavin changed a couple of times, I had one diff.) but are always honest on who they are. Which led to the unfortunate mix-up for yourself (for which I apologised profusely - thanks to Anna). But to each their own, just to remember it is only discussion and learning new things, like how anyone could like Mario Ancic (though his sis is pretty, if a little, well, unfit). How does all this calling and stalking start?! - from this site?! Slatkica, what you have here on this forum is that some die-hard Serbian propagandists are doing their best to tarnish the image of Croatia. This upsets many people on this forum, and many Croats here in Croatia, as the goings on here recently, was discussed on some Croatian forums.
Just look what Irac said about the Catholic church!
