Can you tell us what the cheapest property overlooking sea is like to cost us? Many thanks.

You might get something out on one of the smaller and remoter islands for Eur 40,000, but the low price will reflect the difficulty of getting there and the higher cost of living there. Ferry services are reduced out of season and may even reduce to a weekly service. Elsewhere, with easy access from airports, properties with sea views are at a premium. Everyone wants them. Anywhere within 10 minutes drive from the sea is much more expensive and Eur 150,000 is more realistic. We have property at that price that you can see the sea from from the upper floor. Properties inland, often with spectacular views, just not of the sea, are still available very cheaply, though. We have a house in Buzet with wonderful views down the Mirna valley for Eur40,000.
