In the classified section on this Website someone is selling a house for only 8,000. Is this possible or this is a scam?

It is 8,000 EURO - about £6000. I would be very carefull here, it could be one of those unlawfull occupiers.. Not just because he has a Bosnian name but ...it happened to me when I was looking for a property that someone was selling it with forged papers and a real owner was in Serbia.

on the other hand if it's in bad shape, miles from the sea and only as big as a large living room then 8,000 might be OK - after you've added on renovation costs, tax and other purchase costs it would stand you a fair bit more than 8,000

You people are not reading correctly: the vendors says close to Austria in Norhern Croatia. Very far from the cost. Houses are very cheap there!

Yes Anja I did mean Austria!
Angelo will now want to know about the house if it is in Koprivnica.
The area north of Zagreb is great and Varazdin is a lovely old town. Out of all the place in Croatia it would be number 2 on my list of places to live. I am not saying where number 1 is!

Certainly is not Rijeka! It is on the coast and is not a tourist resort I try to have a few days holiday each year somewhere where we do not have any clients, but I rarely manage it with sucess! Maybe a Robinson Cottage on Pasman next year or a weeks scuba diving. When I manage to get our website up and running again you will see why most people miss the best parts of Croatia when they are on package holidays.

Angelo will now want to know about the house if it is in Koprivnica. Graham, I love Koprivnica as I was born there. A nice area, and nice people. I have a place to stay with my in-laws, so I am not looking for a house there, particularly since we bought a 2-bed flat in Zagreb 2 years ago. I am just back from Croatia, and had a good time in both Zagreb and Koprivnica.
