for fitted kitchens you would get a good deal from local carpenters as they will design and make to fit your kitchen. Unless you are in a major city you will not have a lot of choice for equipement. There are a few big builders merchants etc in the Split and Zagreb areas, or you could try to purchase what you can in Italy.

Mel,
I guess it depends on what you mean by best, and where you are located. I was in Hvar last weekend, and needed to buy a cooker. I went along to the local hardware shop, and found what I was looking for on display. I know that it was not the cheapest place, but the service was excellent and local knowledge useful. If they did not have what you wanted on display, it could be ordered and would arrive in a few days. I was also looking at kitchen units - they had a brochure from which you would order what you wanted.

Hi All,
How about furniture in general. Anybody know of any funiture shops in Istria? (major items such as beds, wardrobes, dining table etc)
Cheers

You can get anything in Croatia you want: and most likely better than in the UK, as many shops sell Italian or German goods.
