Hello, I would appreciate any help anyone can offer with contacts that can be trusted. I am resident in the UK but visited Croatia this year and loved it. I am looking to buy a property in the South now and know a few details: - within approx. 1/2 hour of Dubrovnik up and coming area near beach, seafront if budget permits with no possibility of building in front modern preferable, low maintainence. Ideally somewhere that can be rented out as well as capital gains. Long term investment as want to use more as family allows (wife pregnant and more planned so travel will not always be convenient over next few years but other family members will use as well. I will plan a visit early next year to view all suitable properties with view to buy but Advice: opinion what areas should I best consider. I will need a mortgage so I believe I will need to register a company. Can I buy through an agent I can trust to take care of everything from paperwork through to renting out where appropriate and who is recommended. I would rather go this option and pay more than risk trying to do it all myself. Anyone recommend professional, trustworthy contacts I can rely on to arrange and advise? Thank you

Solve the money problem first - you won't get a mortgage from a Cro bank as you're a foreigner and a UK bank won't lend on foreign properties. You're best (only) bet is to increase the existing mortgage on your UK property and use that cash. This is also cheap. If you don't have a UK property you can mortgage, you're stuffed.

My advice would be- wise up.
Always always get an independent lawyer. If this applies in Spain, it certainly applies in Croatia. Anyone who tries to prevent you from doing this is dodgy.
Croatia is a minefield- you can be robbed very easily, and there's very little protection .

Second mortgages are great for people like you! I'm having trouble finding institutions that'll do this for Croatia - do you know any better? All help gratefully received. Ben
