Dear Jasom1,
I have spent some time in and around Dubrovnik over the course of 2003. Having met the 4 or 5 professional agents (loose term), I have to say my experience with Amir was prob the most fruitfull.
At their best the other agents were 'helpfull' but rather frustrating and time wasting, and seemed unable to grasp the fact that I wanted to quickly understand exactly what they had for sale and be able to view the property i was interested in having made the effort to there.
Too often they grumbled about being busy which was the result of hours of pointless interogation of clients finances and back ground before they were even willing to disclose what they had for for sale....At their worst they down right rude and unpleasant.
In the agents defence the vendors can themselves be rather difficult, some demanding far too much money, being unwilling to pay fees and not disclosing problems with the property or paper work.
Amir is acting as my agent on a property i found myself rather than from his web site. I trust him to do this.
There are no rewards without risk, so just be cautious and don't risk what you really cannot afford to loose I guess.........

Recently an American person said on this forum that Amir was helpful in purchasing a property for her.

We agree then. I have also spoken to the american couple who were happy with Amir.
Now go check check Croriviera....email them and you get info on an off plan type devlopment in Trogir, regardless of what you ask for...fishy mmmmmm.

Pete thanks for kind words but at the risk of being called fishy could you all please do us agents a favour (assuming its not other agents that are doing this) and set up a quality control unit.. then you could give grades like rude... obnoxious... bilingual but blunt.... rip off merchant... Croatian ambasador.... mafioso.... fishy...dodgy...Del Boy's deciple, etc.
It would also help (architect) if you read all the text in the email and locate references to the requested properties before assuming that we are only embarking on an aggressive marketing campaign for a product that actually offers real value, which we are by the way.
Any real clients out there!?
Representative of Croriviera happy to admit who I am and happy for people to take pot shots.... Check my sleeve and youll find a heart there!

Dear Mario,
Judging by your response on the Visit-Croatia message board we seem to have got off on the wrong foot - so excuse me!
My '..mmm fishy' comment was not intended to be cutting or aggressive, more following on from the tone of the earlier thread. Accept my apology.
I hope you could see I was trying to give a fairly rounded opinion of the agents I have come across including in their defence, some of the difficulties in part caused by the vendors themselves. It is a sad fact though that I have been let down by agents & or vendors for one reason or another, and one develops a high degree of cynicism as a result.
Regards

Hi, Be Careful as you may want to ask locally rather than take advice from people who may have connection with the fore mentioned person in the replys you have received, Regards Paul

With regards to Amir Subasic, we have just returned from a buying visit to Dubrovnik and spent 2 days in Amir's company. We found him to be not only helpful and professional but also good company. He was recommended to us by a friend who bought from him last year and was very pleased with the service. What I would say however for any agent out in Croatia at the moment is that they are extremely busy so before contacting them it would be sensible to have a budget and area in mind and preferably to have travel arrangements booked so they know you are serious.

They sometimes seemed to rely on memory (how can they not write down the number of bedrooms in a house?) and on more than one occasion preferred to take us to view a house in order to find out how big it was, etc.! The concept of a details sheet with a picture, price and full details recorded seemed to be rarely understood. By contrast, we found an excellent German estate agency who speed in the foreign-buyer market who were like a breath of fresh air. Come on Croatian agents, get with the programme please!

I met with Amir and his partner Branko only a few days ago and would agree they are busy - busy providing a friendly but professional service.
