My wife and I are looking for a 2/3 bed property to buy in Central Dalmatia, and we are especially interested in the island of Vis, which we've fallen for in a big way! We can consider all kinds of properties; finished, un-finished, renovation, preferably with a little land and no further than 500m from the sea, for a maximum price of €75,000 (+fees, which will then be 10/11% extra, we know). We are ready cash purchasers, and would be very interested to hear of any opportunities anyone on this board may know about - we've signed up with numerous websites and companies and have seen several ideal possibilities that we were just too late for...
Many thanks for your help in advance,
Ben Heywood

Hi Ben, how did you get on looking for property on vis? I would be interested to know as we are also looking for a stone house in Vis town. If anyone knows of any old stone houses in Vis town we will be in Vis at the end of June for 3 days and will be happy to view.

Hi Mike
We very nearly bought, but found out just in time that a noisy bar - the only one on the whole island! - was three rows in front of it, and in the summer that means loud music till 4am - it's good to have such a place on a sleepy island, but you don't want it next door...
We're undeterred, however, and will be back. After all, you rarely find the place you want on your very first viewing!

Hi Ben, was the house you were looking at the one advertised on the Broker web site in Vis town, with the odd looking brickwork on the top storey with a yard and shed? Did you find many properties to look at and how did you find these. I have the name of two local attourneys who deal with property sales. I have had problems with broker also, they won't tell me where one of their properties is apart from on Brac island! Mike

Hi Mike
The one we turned down was through dalmatianvilla.com - but was also on with Trgostan, maybe others, too. It had a terrace, and did indeed have the extensioned brickwork up top.
Broker won't tell you where anything is - they were furious to hear we had actually seen one of their houses without their "permission". Our theory (and it is just a theory)? The house in question was never for sale...we think they just draw you in, get you to pay €100 or whatever for them to come out, at which point I'll bet you have to pay up front before they show you other properties you won't want. We've asked around a lot, and NO-ONE has ever completed with these jokers!
We found our places by asking around - and using other Split based agents. Be happy to share info, contact me on bheywood@chrysalisbooks.co.uk.
