I saw a house surrounded by pine trees this weekend which seemed to have lots of sawdust along the floor of one of the attic rooms - looked like the property had termites. But the estate agent said they don't have termites in Croatia.
Anyone else had this sort of problem? Any ideas if it's termites or something else? Wood eating ants?

Could be woodworm - baby beetles that munch through wood. Fairly easy to kill them - but if they've gnawed through wooden beams and structures it can really weaken the building, especially if load-bearing or supporting a roof!
Best to check with pest-control peeps, and an engineer.

Which was seated on a huge infestation on a parqet floor. Which would without doubt go up into the furniture. The furniture was rough and they were asking 5 times the UK price for it. Mad place Croatia is. Mad.

Sounds like classic woodworm to me - treatable if not too far gone - look in any DIY shop. And beware estate agents telling porkies about a property's state of health....!
