Foreign Ministry Approval

Hi,
we bought a house on Hvar last October but have yet to hear from the Foreign Ministry. Does anyone know how long it is currently taking to get permission ? Also, if I am a law abidding UK citizen without any criminal records etc, would I be safe in starting construction on the house assuming I will eventually get the permission ? I purchased a house at the end of September last year, and have not received approval yet.

we bought our apartment in Istria in Nov 2003 and did all the ministery paperwork at end of Dec 2003 - aparently it's unlikely we'll have the approval until late this year, although we are using the property in the meantime. The agent is calling regularly for progress and all docs are in order and have passed (which we knew anyway as checks had been made before we agreed to buy the property).
The MFA is now in the process of checking back with the UK that we dont have criminal records etc..

Has anyone received their approval yet? How long did it take and where did you purchase?
