When buying my house, my bank, Barclays offered a very poor exchange rate, so i looked for an alternative company to exchange my stirling for Euros, that wouldn't rip me off. I was recomended to FX Solutions, by a friend in the city. Wow, they were excellent .To open an account they emailed me a form, which i filled in, my contact details, read the terms and conditions and faxed it back with a copy of a recent utility bill and my passport. Within an hour of sending it, i was assigned my account reference. After dealing, the cash needs to be there the evening before, and voila the next day my euros were sent to my bank. As for the rate, i was a thousand euros better off. I spoke to either Paul or Vince, who were both equally as helpfull. The companies number is 01689 601111. I think they also have a website, which i'll post later. Hope this is of help to all of you looking for property or those spending in croatia. lijep pozdrav

or Ruesch, or any one of the many international dealing houses. The banks in general just give you the tourist rate, whereas if you work with a dealing house you can buy on the market at that instant you choose.

With Lloyds TSB it depended on the amount trasferred - I believe that for amounts over GBP 25K they called for the current market rate - for less they consulted a piece of paper which I guess was the same as the tourist rate. My main problem was finding someone in the bank who knew what to do, and this was in the main branch for my area!

We used fx sollutions, there web site is www.fxsolutions.co.uk. We did our homework and foundthem to more competative than the banks, monecorp and some other non banks we tried. We were very happy with the whole service.
