Hi
We are trying to find a reputable estate agent who covers the coastal area between Makarska and Split. Does anyone have any recommendations from their own personal experience?
Also has anyone had dealings with Ellis Property Partnership? They seem to have some interesting offerings but would be interested to hear peoples experiences. My email address is kdolan@tiscali.co.uk if you prefer to respond privately.
Finally, there is a UK firm of lawyers who support Croatian purchases but I am undecided whether it would be better to use a local lawyer who 'is on the ground' - any views??
Many thanks

Hi
I visited Makarska last year looking for properties. Unfortunately my experience with the local agents was very negative:
1. One was to busy to talk to us and could not see us for a week, was also very rude. 2. Other gave us a lecture about foreigners buying property and did not listen to us (I can buy without any restrictions plus we were cash buyers). He also refused to show us any property on his books until we signed a contract that said we would pay commission to him even if we did not buy from him?? I did not think that was acceptable at which point the agent started calling us names and being extremely rude!
Not to say we did not find what we were looking for. I just hope that things will get better. The point made on this website many times applies - buyers beware.
Re: Ellis - if you are talking about Peter Ellis I have met him and his wife. They seem very nice and professional to me.
Good luck.
