I was hoping to move here for a semi retired lifestyle and just work on my own home. With all these horror stories going round about "local" builders, it makes me realise how lucky I am to be able to do the work myself, and makes me wonder if I should start up again ! Anyone need the services of a reliable British builder?
Seriously though, most of the threads are about simple mistakes and misunderstanding that would still occour in most countries, certainly in the UK anyway. I do feel sorry for all of you of don't have an understanding of the construction industry, it must be really dificult.

Hi Wolfie, I wouldn't read too much into it. It's a discussion board, and like a call centre or a radio phone-in programme, most people who have something to get off their chest, concerns a negative experience or situation they found themselves in. Very rarely do people ring in, or comment on good work, it's just human nature. Culchie BTW Wolfie... A sympathetic builder.....there's a rare thing  |

We have just bought a house in pula and its needs work. My Croatian brother in law's family have a medium sized building company, and will be totally rebuilding our house. I can honestly recomend them having seen their work, email me on dijanablazevac@mail for their details if you're interested.

Wolfie. Do it. I've been here seven months and have seen NO biulding as we know it. Architecture? Forget it. Nothing has happened for 2 centuries. But probably most of it is down to the planners and the, if they exist, panning departments. Whoever they are. Do it. IF you can get the stuff.

Hi Wolfie I need a reliable builder! Where are you going to be based? Istria would help! Niola, I have just arrived in Zagreb and am in the process of setting up / rebrading a Construction company. I am working with an existing building firm and developing the services to cater for Foriegn investors. We have 30 employees and have been in business for 30 years, building private houses / apartments and building for the Croatian Goverment - schools, hospitals and office blocks.
